Title: 9-0
Post by: Ripsnort on October 29, 2007, 11:51:36 AM
My son's Bantam weight Junior football team had an undefeated 8-0 season, and won their playoff game yesterday. Next Sunday is the Conference Championship game.  The Sunday after that is the "Superbowl" of Puget Sound league and Cascade League (Cross-over Championship game, which is these kids' superbowl)

My father was visiting from Minnesota and the 2nd offensive series, the coach decides to put my son at tailback for 1 play at the 1 and 10 at the opponents 12 yarrd line.(he typically plays guard) He scored his first TD of the year on a 12 yard scamper! They went for the 2 pt conversion and he got the ball again, and scored again!. :)

Wish him luck next week! :aok

Good Luck, hope your son wins!

I've been playing hockey for 8 or 9 years now, 4 seasons each year, and Ive only gone to the finals 3-4 times, and winning only 1! :lol . One of those years we lost we were #1 in the league with a record of 11-1-1. Just because your team is #1 doesn't mean you'll win I guess. Hope that doesn't happen though :aok

Great job there little Ripster.

BTW My oldest son's team is back in the playoff game again this year for the 5th straight season and are shooting for their 4th straight trip to the championship game. Then the next goal is to win their 3rd championship in a row.

They are 6-1 (single loss was by 1 point in OT) as of now and play a make up game for a rain cancellation game tonight. They should be 7-1 after tonight and then they play the playoff game on Thursday against their classmates to see who is going to the championship game on the 10th.

I hate having to miss these two games but it has to happen.

Championship game today!!!

The Big G has his game face on (Taken last week in the playoffs)

They're gonna throw this helmet away rather than re-surface it. ;)

Awesome, Rip.

He oughta tell them to keep their hands off his helmet, though. I know when I was that age I was justifiably proud of how scarred up mine was in the front :)

WTFG on the great season

Do they do the Disney Pop Warner Superbowl thing too?

Or did your league opt out?

My sons team made that trip as a Jr PeeWee.

Talk about a circus LOL

Thanks Dred!
The game breaker was in the middle of the 3rd quarter, we were up 6-0.  The opposing team had driven down to our 20 yard line methodically. Our coach calls a 5-3 Defense Double Y (Blitz the two outside Linebackers, of which my son is an OLB)  The QB rolls out while Gordon is on a full blitz...he comes >< close to batting down the ball as its released, foricbly early because of the pressure. Just as the QB releases, Gordon punishes him....the ball goes into the air, and Jason, our cornerback intercepts the ball and goes the other way, 90 yards, for a TD!  After the failed conversion attempt, we go up 12-0 and the final was 18-6.  A great day for the Roughriders, as 4 out of the 5 weight divisions all won their Conference Championship games (all 5 made it to the Championship game, a first for this ball club!)

In answer to your question, no Disney ball that I know of. That's the first I've heard of it.

Tell him congrats from us Rip. We play in our championship game this coming Saturday afternoon. We had 3 out of our 9 teams in 5 weight classes make it to the championship game. The 4th team was playing tonight in a playoff game.

My son's championship game is against the team that beat them 19-18 in OT a few weeks ago and they have since lost their star QB due to a broken hand and they are now one dimensional with a stud WR/RB kid that can absolutely fly if he is given a crack.

The Buckeyes will stomp them before they even have a chance to be humiliated by the Patriots.
