You're going to have many questions.  Each one is going to cause another.

I would heartily suggest visiting the training forum, or entering the training arena for a quick run through with the staff in there.

As for your immediate questions, / button opens the chat buffer and there isn't a best plane to start with.  Just start grabbing them and have fun.

But trust me on the training arena, just get it over with, you will be much happier in a far shorter time than trying to wing it.

Also, try reading the help files... it will answer alot of your questions.

Aces High has a built in voice system. Hitting and holding the F12 key will transmit on room/range channel and t key transmit on the tunable channel, radio 5 or radio V as shown in the message window.
As mentioned, instructions on setup are available in the help file or at the Trainers website: http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/

Best help you can get for this game is a trainer in the TA. A few minutes in there and you'll know everything you need to.

To text to people use the / key to open text buffer (as ROC said) type what you want and hit enter. You can alos use a combinations of alt /, shift /, and ctrl / for a wider variety of text options. You can also set these text keys to your liking (such as / key text to country abd crtl / text on range). You can also speak to people by using the F12 key and T key. F12 you can talk to anyone within a certain range of you, and T key lets you talk to people on the same chanel as you (which you can set in the text buffer. The last box is your channel).

I read all the help sites before downloading game. Then read them again, and still had questions. Most were simply and figured out from trial and error, others were answered by a couple players that helped me out my first couple months.

1 year in and i still have questions.

I fly in the Bishop country under Tex01, don't hesitate to ask questions if you see me.

Many of us are here to help you. When I started, I messed around with many fighters/bombers until I found a nitch I liked. After three years, I still get shot down A LOT.:D

Don't hesitate to ask questions, and read up on the help files.

Very good advice Fuzeman but might want to mention that he will need a Mic to talk into while doing this. Trust me I've seen it on the text channel someone complaining.

newb: "why cant anyone here me"
responder: are you pushing F12 key when talking?
newb: yes
responder: is your mute button on?
newb: mute button?
responder: yes the mute button for your Mic?
newb: I don't have a Mic!

Duh!

First read the help pages.... then go online and go to the training arena. Doing this before you go fly alot is a good idea to get the basics and to help you fly before you develope alot of bad habits.

The best plane to start with is the Spit 16.

P-51D is the second best.

See ya,

Most definately. I do admit I forget about those minor details at times.

E key to start the engine was mine and I refused to admit it.

I remember sitting in my pretty p38, off line, a clear blue sky, and those delightful drones circling the base going 'how the ____ do I start this thing?'.  Once I figured that out and got up in the air I discovered that the p38 is only forgiving to a new pilot on takeoff.  After that she's a deceitful treacherous !#%!$^ that flops to the ground at the most inopportune moment.

Reminds me of my ex to be honest :D

Same Boomer that was flying in Warbirds for a while?  Either way, welcome, and to be honest, joining a squad is probably the least painful way to learn the ropes in here.  Us Avengers are hiring pilots at the moment and don't mind new guys in the game; if interested drop me a private message.  How's that for a shameless plug?
