My microphone works in all other applications, as well as windows sound recorder. When I log in to an arena my mic is clear for 30secs - 1 min then it gets distorted to the point where it is just static. The resetv commands produce the same result; clear for a few seconds then rapidly deteriorates.
Any help would be appreciated.

in the sound section of the DXdiag, turn sound acceleration down to 3/4 and try that.
-
Have to make sure the microphone is set to be the primary (only) recording device in the sound control panel or the microphone wil not be visible to the game. Unfortunately, RealTek's control panel lacks a lot to be desired in finding where those controls are.
Many applications will change that setting without letting you know about it.

Thanks guys
Will try both

I had tons trouble in a similar vein until i got another headset withOUT a 'noise-canceling' mic---combine that with SB Audigy, seems to be bad mix (yes, sounded FINE while recording in windows)
