I am the l33t buff killer, and I'm going to be looking for you.
Just checkin my stats this tour:
Kills of:
B-17: 14
B24: 4
B-26: 4
Ju88: 3
Ar234: 2
B25: 3
Boston: 1
Killed by:
B-17: 3
and two of those were last night, and one was because I got lazy.
Be afraid. Be very afraid. Someone finally figured out how to kill bombers.

How/where did you look up those stats??

I will say he's the toughest I ever shot down, takes lots of patience. I'll bet too that 90% of the time when we fought in the MA we both knew the who the other was as soon as the engagement started. He's a great bomber pilot and a real class act 999000 :aok

heh I know that feeling.. killing anything in a Hurri 1 is great, much less a bomber.
I love the little plane, too bad they are like a enemy con magnet. The enemy always seems to think it takes 15 of them to kill a single Hurri 1.

I killed 2 of 999's buffs one night while a squadie got the 3rd. 999 was afk :)
I also managed to kill 2 B-26's once in a Hurri I before the guy got my engine. Fortunately it was over our base and I got to glide in to land the kills.

If I ever shoot down 999000 in a Hurri 1 while he isn't AFK, I AM going to retire from the game!

lololol.......but ya see toonces, that's a GOOD thing........we love it when someone gives us a good fight.....it kinda gets the blood pumping, as we balst your wings off!:D the absolute most fun is when we do that, and there's enough time that you re-up, and come to us a second time,,,,,,,,and we get to do it again,,,,,,,it REALLY breaks up the boredom of flying one of those behemoths.

Your busting my chops right? Its Ok, I can take it.
But I am not in the upper echalons of bombers sticks. Nor am I in the top ranks of bomber gunners. Nor have I ever said I was. Dont mistake enthusiasm for arrogance. You'll notice I never once said I shot anyone down in this forum. At most I'll say stuff like, "I survived the encounter". The reason for that is its a gesture of respect towards those Ive battled.
At best Im becoming competent. Ive managed well over 100 kills in bombers this tour and have been increasing by about 50% with every tour since I started. Which was only 3 or 4 months ago. But Ive taken some knocks too, and do crazy things like fly towards a furball after dropping bombs just to maybe learn somthing.
And I'm still fully capable of pulling boneheaded moves. I was flying 67s well for a few days and last night I was OB with a LaLa in pursuit. Instead of using the strengths of the airplane I instead stayed on a steady course figuring I'll just slug it out without maneuvering and/or pulling any of my tricks. And 3 bombers gone and myself in a chute.
Theres a lot of fighter sticks that can make me look silly. Believe me Im the first to admit it.
If instead you were throwing down a friendly gauntlet, and throwing me a compliment. Then thank you and I'll take your challenge. Hopefully one day I'll be as good as some of the bomber sticks we have here in AH but I'm certainly not there yet.
I consider that one model Hurricane, the one with the big cannons, to be a monster! Its not an airplane its a monster! And the 110 aint much kinder, and if anything the Mossie is even meaner. The Butcher Bird also has my number and im learning to hate the thing.
An interesting aspect of flying bombers, and one im sure many will agree with, is for every one fighter we shoot down its probably x2, or x3, that number of ones we cripple. "They" can normally land them cause were deep in their territory where'as we are pretty well screwed if we get dinged hard enough far behind their lines. And Often we have to abandon drones cause its to dangerous to nurse them back.
But 999000 is a far better gunner then I am. You probably shouldnt even mention my name with his.

I was in a 262 and got a minifreeze just as I closed in to fire. Bye-bye 262 LoL

Of course I'm joking dude. You and 999 were the only two I could think of that I know fly bombers alot.
Hehe, but I AM getting better at it.
Of course all 3 of my 'deaths' to bombers have been in non-cannon birds. I can't kill crap with .50 cals.

Sounds good my friend. I just ran thru about 10 knits around a tanktown in KI-67s. Its always an interesting experience and I agree the Bomber/fighter war is an interesting aspect of the game.

Always a comfort for a bomber stick. Having a Pony watching your back. I can just imagine how good it made those WW-ll aircrews feel when those Mustangs started coming along for the entire trip.

Toonces3, First Sir, what kind of name is "Toonces3"...you might want to consider getting a number.
Secondly, I'm really not very good at gunning ...I just get Lucky sometimes.
Thirdly, If Tatertot tells you any of the secrets......I'm going to put him on Craigslist and sell him!
Also JB73, Fuzeman, Lusche and Baldeagle All own me....but more importantly are all really great guys!!
FYI Two of the VERY BEST at attacking Bombers are SHAWK and WMLUTE. you could learn alot from them..both class acts... that you want to honor with your best effort!

I will say it over and over for the rest of my flight sim career:
999000 is the classiest act and most respectful "foe" you can face in the virtual skies. I dare anyone who has ever interacted with him online to dispute that.

kills to death ratio on buffs, I typically fly a Fw190 so yeah buffs arn't hard for me. Best way to approch a buff is being smart about it. coming in Low and behind or behind is going to result in you being in a tower quick, regardless how long it takes me to setup I will setup on a buff and execute my attack otherwise I leave the buffs alone, no sense to being back in a tower right?

Un fortunatly, at least for us, the fighter is the one who controls the engagement. Ive had many fighters come in at poor angles, get dinged, and then break off. Do I blame them or think they are cowards?? Of course not!
Really, why would anyone want to continue with an attack profile thats going to result in hitting the chutes? And at the same time why would anyone blame a bomber stick for wanting to get at least a reasonable amount of air under him?
Ah, well, theres a lot of things I'd like to say now but I have to go to work. Toons who do you fly with? I dont believe we have ever met in the air.

speaking of which about poor angels, last night got shot down by set of Lancs because I came low and behind not realizing the Lancs had a ball turret attached. Actually instead of going going vert straight up under it, I came in little low and behind which was a mistake, happens.

try the TA152 when you're buff hunting. They wont last long agains that 30mm:aok

Of all the crazy things I like to do with a buff, gunship is the best. Get over water drop ords fly past a furball. almost like being a specter (or as some call it, Puff the Magic Dragon). I just wish the friendlies would take a hint and line the nme up while they take the bait.

Funny you should say that.
I took up a Ta152 for the first time the other day to hunt buffs.
Climb rate is pretty bad, but man, that plane just floats up above 20k.
Problem was running out of ammo. While that 30mm is awesome, I find that I have to get up close and personal to hit with it, which is always dangerous around a flight of bombers if the guy can shoot at all. Shooting from distance just burned up all my ammo.

I like the Ta-152 but it takes radiator damage way too easy.
The 190A-8 is the best buff hunter up to about 25K. Above that the 110G-2 is the ultimate buff hunter and both have far superior armor and gun packages to the Ta-152.

I will be the first to admit that my B24 gunnery skills are awesome. I guess I'm becoming a little to saucy for all of you self proclaimed 'Buff Killers'. The only person that I know who has pwned me consistently is Stang. However, the last time I ran into him was early summer. I want you guys to bring it, and bring it hard. I'm tired of landing your skins. <>:aok
