Well, about 3 weeks ago I was whacked by a double whammy - My 23" CRT Graphics monitor that I used to play AH completely crapped out. My only replacement I have onhand is a 17"... Fellas... for an old bastage (43) like myself... that requires some MAJOR readjustment! I have not been able to see, much less hit CRAP since this happened.
About the same time I got a letter from my ISP that they are making upgrades in my area over the next several months... sooo I have been warping, ramming, discoing etc etc etc... My connection is flaky, on the best of days.
I have been trying to find (preferably) new CRT in the 23" class for awhile and it seems like everything above 19" has dried up. I could go LCD but I have never been impressed with the LCD performance in a gaming situation... CRTs are just much brighter.
Anyone know of a good outlet for this sort of thing?

Contact Dadano on this board, he might be able to help. He handles most of us Muppets computer needs. I'm not sure if he is dealing at this time though.

First off, that 17" will work if you pull your video resolution back down.
Start at 800x600 and see how it looks. Work from that point and see how it goes. It may not look as "pretty" but you'll be able to see the planes again.
Not much I can do for you on the ISP side. Consider switching to a different isp for a year.

My buddies have bought this monitor and are giving it great reviews:
Samsung 22" LCD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16824001096)
2ms refresh seems to be enough for the "twitch" gaming like Team Fortress 2....

Ya, look for an LCD with 2ms refresh, you should notice much of a difference. I picked up an 19" Samsung 2ms refresh this time last year to replace my old 17" CRT. It's great.
You can get larger displays with the 2ms refresh but it'll cost ya. I'm not sure where you can find a supplier who is selling a large CRT at this time. You might be SOL unless you can find a decent used one?

ISP "upgrades" always take a while to settle :)

Isn't the Sony 21" Trinitron still available? You should be able to order one from Bestbuy.com or somewhere if it is.
BTW, I've got a 19" Viewsonic and love it plus it was relatively cheap.
