Perfect. The DA furball arena had 5 or 6 guys on every night. I think the AvA has more.
An arena is what the players make it. Players seem to like MA since that is where they are. You will find that any arena will get closer to an MA as populations rise becuase that is what most people like

If we did this then it wouldn't be called Axis vs Allies, it be called Furball Arena (FA). We need to get some big event in there, something that a lot of people would love to go to.

As one of the longest serving volunteer staffers here at HTC, the idea is a moot point. Not because I think it's a bad idea, but because I'm sure Pyro and HiTech knows what is best for their product.
if you want a furball arena, fly the latewar MA. The AvA has anywhere from 10-30 players flying daily, most in the evening. Want more to furball - do it in the Dual Arena.
Isn't there another name where people can have at one another without limits? :)

A while back a group of people were runing HARM missions and repeatedly tried to run them in the AVA. These a Historically Accurate Realistic Missions. Mostly their missions were long range bombing missions with fighter escorts and they would invite squadrons to do the interceptions. They did not work in the AVA due to ENY so they went back to the MA's where ENY was typically not a major issue.
The ENY was an issue in AVA because when the players would log in the population would go from 2 or 3 to 40+ and since this was a long range mission the population was lopsided toward the bomber/escort teams. I really think the AVA is a great place for things like this but ENY made is near impossible to make it work.
I would like to see more of this kind of thing in the AVA but after my experiences in there it wont work without some changes.
Just my thoughts.

So far as I know, ENY makes no difference in the AvA because perk points are disabled. We can't change the hanger charts, so the planes still have perk points listed next to them, but you can fly any plane without expending any perk points.
Sorry that the ENY worry might have disrupted your plans, why don't you try it again?

Well the difference it made was we were trying to build accurate missions. B-24's and B-17 escorted by particular escort fighter aircraft. Such as P47 (Various early and mid war models), Spit 8's, B Ponies. When the bomber and escort teams would log into the arena ENY would limit aircraft that could be used an our mission would not work as we had planned. Most of the time people would start spawning on the runway as the mission would launch and ENY would stop the launch of the mission because the historically accurate aircraft violated the ENY limit.
We didnt give a tinkers damn about perk cost. We were trying to fly historically accurate missions for the fun of that aspect of this game. That was the attraction to these mission. We were not trying to rack up scores. As a matter of fact I dont think but a few pilots from any mission received any points.
The problem was that we built the mission around the map in the AVA. The AC for both teams was selected based on the year/period of the war being represented in the mission based on the target that was to be attacked or defended.
Typically the Bomber/Escort team had the much higher numbers of pilots flying so ENY would shut down the AC selection available and the mission was interrupted. So the solution was not to use the AVA at all. Which in my opinion defeated a major reason for having an AVA arena in the first place.
In order to actually have a mission occur they had to be flown in one of the MA's. However I must point out that that tended to deminish the fun of the mission being represented. No major complaint from me here but just an ovservation on the topic.
So based on our experience in the AVA the ENY had a major effect on what we could do in the arena.

Yeah!
We could call it the Special Events Arena (SEA)!
That would be cool!

I flew some in the AvA the other night and found it alot of fun, I'll be making more of a habit of it in the future.

KayBayRay, actually Oldman is right we never had a problem with ENY in AvA. The AvA didn't work for the HARM missions because of how it's configured, not ENY. It was the mid-war where we had an OpFor that ENY just killed us.
