Game shuts down when you disco. Why can't it just send you to the arena list screen? As an option in the game maybe?

Second this. I use FSAutostart and when i disco i have to start that process all over again.

The point is to reload whatever part of the game failed.

Its not that something has failed. This happens if you stay in an arena as it resets. I was AFK one night and we won the map, because i wasn't at the computer to exit the arena i got discoed on reset and had to restart the game.

The connection to the server is dropped simply but stopping the flow of packets when the reset happens; hence the term reset and not rotation.
The game doesn't recognize the difference and reads it as a simple disco.

The whole game, especially if you switch arenas.
The game has a tendency to keep old data from the server you were just in and try to apply it to the next one you enter. That's the main reason for the complete unloading. HT's posted on it a few times.

Either way, even if you lose connection, why does the program have to shut down? It doesn't need a connection to work. I'd be ok with just losing a connection, but getting dumped out of the program completely is annoying.

Why isn't this an issue when you exit an arena to go into another?

It is after a while. Switching from SEA to MA, I've crashed many times.

I have had nights when i have visited every arena, some many times and have never crashed out. Why not just do a mass eject before terminating the connection? I agree with moot on this, seems like it should be an easy fix for such an annoying problem.

It is sometimes. It's common to have to restart the game to eliminate bugs when entering SEA after being an MA first.

I do think a reset should redirect you someplace though rather than just dumping ya out on the curb.

You know if AH took 30 seconds or longer to load, you'd have a point.
However with any kind of decent machine your still back to the arena select screen in what, 5 - 8 seconds?
So where's the beef? You have to what, click 3 buttons?

The beef was that AH does take about 30 sec from the point it closes after a disco to re-entering the arena, and it was worth asking about because I'd never seen any clues that it was necessary, and (this one's probably personal) I really dislike the feel of clicking in AH. The cursor's too imprecise.

If there were no discos, there would be no problem, so the problem lies with crappy networks, not the game. :)
I feel very fortunate that I disco maybe once every other year, but I can appreciate how frustrated those of you who disco more must feel.

the disco could have been caused by a problem on your computer. By making you reload the game it clears out the "possible problem" file by resetting everything.
Don't know about you, but I'd rather reload the game than be able to jump back in quick and have the thing crash again and again because some file didn't load right on my computer.
