My football season ended.
We are a special league (AAYFL??) With 6th grade, 7th, and 8th grade all playing for one town. I was playing for 7th grade... Our team name was the spiders. If our 8th grade team wasn't crap, we would've made it to championship... (all teams do what the 8th graders do)
Our record was 7-1
We were AMAZING. Our defense wouldn't let ANYBODY through the line, giving our linebackers chances to plow through the holes, and nail the backs. In our entire season, we had maybe ONE team score 2 touch-downs on us. The others could barely get 40 yards a GAME.
I played corner-back. I had oshgood Shlaughter (how the heck do you spell that?) in my knee. It's where, when you go through a growth spurt and get lots of excercise, the tendon in your knee swells up, and if it gets TOO bad, it starts pulling away tiny fragments of bone.
I had it in BOTH knees. It lasted the entire season, and I had to wear knee braces. They slowed me down alot.
ANYWAY. Because of my knees, this season wasn't that good for me. We have a VERY huge team. With like... 45 kids. So if you're almost worthless, you may as well not show up.
I had gotten to play maybe... 20 plays out of all of our first 7 games, but then the very last one, the coach decided to put me in.
I did absolutely excellent. A Sack, 4 tackles behind the line of skrimmage TWO interceptions, an 80 yard gain, and almost a third interception. (the safety stole it right from my hands  )
I would've gotten a big sticker on my helmet if it wern't the last game... :cry Big stickers show how good you are... I would've had 10, with other people only having 7. PLUS 2 BIG stickers for both my interceptions.
ARGH! Now I have to wait an entire year. I'm sure the coach would've put me in ALL the time after seeing this.
Another thing, the defensive backs coach who taught all the Defensive backs was GONE. GONE!!! He couldn't see my awesome game!
Well, I was a nobody before this season started, now I'm increddibly popular in school, along with the best kids on the football team. (who hated me at first.)
Why does everything I do, make me suck untill the very end? :cry

No, no, Oogly, you don't suck until the very end-You mature as a player, the same way my kids' have. The same way I did over 20 years' ago when I first strapped on a helmet.
Now, I coach my youngest sons' team. I will tell you, experience helps alot in football. Playing a season can make all the difference. It sounds' like you guys' don't have a minimum-play rule( I had to play all of my kids' at least 10 plays a game.) Your key here is how you train in the off-season to improve yourself for next-year. If Osgood Slaughter sets' in, talk to your doctor and ask him what level of exercise you can do, because improvements that you make in your conditioning and strength now will improve your playing time next year.

It's not where you go grasshopper, but whether or not you had fun getting there.

All good coaches know, training in the off season is the key to success. Just think of it like this, anytime you are training and the other athlete isn't, you are gaining an advantage!
Oh, by the way..........rest your knees!! :D

"now I'm increddibly popular in school, "
Tut tut.
Dont complain. better to be remembered for what you did in the last game of the season then for what you didnt do in the first.
Enjoy it. Savor it. And milk it for all its worth while it lasts.
Because remember the warning
"All glory. Is fleeting"
