I play mostly for the fights, although I like a good mission now and then. But I strongly believe in fair play...and a guy named DaGrimVI (someone I've literally never heard of) today showed me some of the worst in AH gamesmanship. His behavior deserves exposure, censure, and the embarrassment of public ridicule.
This evening I was playing rook, fighting on the west side of Lake Uterus. Out of the blue, Mr. DaGrim PM's me with the following:
29 Goons inbound V64, free kills!.
DaGrim was bish. V64 was rook, on the east side of the map and next to a bish base. I became annoyed.
So I PM'd a couple guys I know on the Bish side, and let them know what had happened. I said nothing to anyone else. About 5 minutes later, the Bish took the base by dropping troops simultaneously from "30 goons" (according to what was said on Rook country channel).
And a few minutes after that, Mr. DaGrim landed 4 kills in a P47. Immediately after, he pm'd me with
Thanks.
This makes me suspect he was trolling for low rook cons, expecting me to publicize the mission he tried to spoil...which would allow him to get easy kills, even at the expense of his countrymen's plans. I sent a message back to him --
"Thanks for what? I didnt tell anyone about your message except some friends on the Bish side."
His response?
sorry, sent to wrong person
Pretty unbelievable, since nobody has a handle close to my weird one, since he messaged me twice (the second time with "thanks"), and since the only names near mine on the list were another bish and a nit. Now, I happen to think that dropping troops from 30 goons is a pretty lame way to take a base, even if you actually care about base taking. But, I also think DaGrimIV needs a can of virtual whoopazz applied to his posterior.
At the very least, countrymen need to be aware that he is apparently perfectly willing to narc out missions for personal gain. The best outcome, IMHO, would be repeated and persistent razzing with enough intensity to cure him of his antisocial behavior.
But that's just my opinion.
-
Thats happened to me also, but from someone with a different cpid.
Reason being because he hates that country, so he PM's info about whats going on where.
-
Hmm, maybe every bish should announce on 200 his loc, alt and speed for a week?
-
LOL I know this guy, he use to fly rooks, I shot him down today I was wondreing what he was doing on the other side, I think he was spying more fore the bish than he was trying to get kills.
He has been in alot of my missions and they never got busted with him in them, however maybe hes trying or doing something new.
Point is, spying is always ganna be a part of the game, and alot more people do it than u think.
There is a couple of entire SQUADS that will fly on one side but when they see a mission go up they know all the info and they will switch sides and go after it.
One of these squads is apparently respected. so i cant see how u can single one man out for this problem.

Those were definately the good days.. still happens from time to time.... but mostly long gone:(

I Had no clue 400 goons were going to show up at V64, I just happen to showed up in a 163 and bagged 9 before so many paratroopers were dropped my FPS dropped to 5.
Amazing bish have that many goon pilots around.

I missed iT! DAM! :huh Btw adonai do you KNOW how to use or pm box on BB forums bud?

So much for the "health of the arena" theory. Substitute one set of problems with others.

Muppets. I find it funny. It makes me laugh.
Although I don't play this game anymore.
-
FWIW if the person you are PMing logs off, it goes to I believe the next person alphabetically who's online and so forth.
Whoever came just before Simiral on the roster that night was probably his PM pal and not someone simply randomly clicking other country members to PM.
I've been wrong before though.
Once.
-
Hmmm...so lets check the roster and find EVERYone who starts with "R", who was over there last night :furious....prolly a squeaker

He is right, they are known to do this, but I honestly dont fault them for it.
Anytime u do a mission u risk getting caught befor u get there, sometimes that adds to the fun.
1 person doing it is no different than a whole squad doing it.
Spying is always going to happen until Hightech prevents people from talking to each other over countries and switching countries.
My advice is play it to your advantage if u say a mission is going one place, go another keep them guessing.
-
What an ass.
29 goons, though, that's pretty resourceful.

I don't remember ever doing that with the Muppets, nor seeing them do it. The closest such thing I've seen is one ex-squaddie who'd change sides to shoot squaddies down, and he got booted for it.

I used to do that, I never got booted :t

I've seen BKs post missions, then have other BKs hunt the mission down to pad their scores. Sad.

No, it doesn't send the message and gives you the pop up window that says "so and so isn't on line"

That happens when you log into an arena with your last saved radio settings tuned to a player not in that arena. Or when you try to tune to someone who is not in the arena.
If you're already tuned to someone and then they log, the channel defaults to the next online player, or goes blank.

Hmmm...guess that "once" must have been backing Straiga... ;)
All kidding aside, there are two problems with that theory, Golfer. First is that he PM'd me TWICE, about 10 minutes apart. Pretty much makes it impossible that they guy he was trying to PM had just logged off; although now that I think about it he MIGHT have used roster/tune to. I honestly don't remember if I sent him a PM after the first message, but I don't think I did.
Second problem is the fact that his 2nd PM came was "thanks," after the capture and immediately after he landed 4 kills. That sequence makes absolutely no sense unless he was trying to manipulate the rooks to get more targets in zone. So regardless of who the intended PM target was, the intended consequence was for rooks to swarm in to bust the mission, so he could get kills. I just can't think of any other reason to say "thanks" to the guy he warned after landing kills.

This seems like a completely appropriate intervention scaled to the severity of the offense. Truth be told, the only reason I'm saying anything at all is because I believe community self policing is the best way to minimize dysfunctional gameplay. If consequences for crossing community lines were clear, then we'd see less of what the community in general doesn't want.
Not looking for the "Body Snatchers Finger Pointing" scenario, though. As I said, I honestly couldn't care less about the base capture, and his attempt didn't either prevent the mass drop or stop him from getting the kills he wanted.
-
Ok, I normally dont engage in these kinds of threads. Just read them.
BUT... I couldn't let the Muppet accusation go by.
Since I have been a Muppet ( currently an ex muppet), switching sides to crash a mission has NEVER happened. And if it did it was coincidental.
Muppets are furballers. They like to fight. When the numbers get low on the country they are on and the fights die out because of a bomber taking out hangers or killing a cv especially when no base taking was happening, they will switch sides to find a fight or balance one out. Especially if all that was happening is vulching for no reason.
When they sign on the first thing they look at is which country has the low numbers and usually go there.
Muppets often fly on diff countries because a few may have a good fight going while the others may want to fly off a cv or bomb gv's.
Muppets are not country specific. They play this game to have fun. Not fly around for tens of minutes droning to some far off base to get one kill.
If there is a good furball going on in any country and its a dead fight where they are they will switch. This has nothing to do with spying or crashing missions.
The day Hitech stops allowing me to switch countries is the day I cancel my account. Ill be dammmmmed If I am going to fly around picking my nose because I can't switch to get into a good fight.
I switch countries all the time. And will continue to do so. This does not make me a spy.
I agree that blabbing mission info like this is pretty cheap. Those who do this are lame. One must have sense of fair play. This is a war "game" therefore we must have good sportsmanship. Its much like looking at your buddies poker cards when he gets up. Its not really ..."C word" but it IS unethical.

some of that is true agent, however I have seen the muppets on rook side when we are 20+ numbers on other countries.
I have seen them fly cap over a field to the point the vulch light is on.
then ive seen them switch sides and come back high alt to kill the vulchers that they were just helping:)

So?
Sounds like what I would do. If one side has a numbers advantage and is vulching/hording, that's exactly what I do. I know it's too far "outside of the box" for some people to consider switching but some of us don't see the fun in flying the pattern while waiting for the next upper to vulch.

It's funny how you're the only one that says this. I know you're relatively knew to this game and you haven't been around long enough to know the Muppets.
I've flown with and against these guys for 7 years. Yes, they do at times engage in the dweebery that is common in the MA like ganging banging, cherry picking and even *gasp* toolshedding. But that is something we are all guilty of, some, like you, more so than others.
However, in all that time, I have never known one Muppet (even before they were the Muppets) for them to engage in doing stuff like this. It's not their style. I would also like to point out that those that complain about the Muppets are twits like yourself. What I mean by that is, you are one of the dweebs they like to hunt, after all it wouldn't be a Dweeb Hunt without the Dweeb. So, you complain about them and will try and dredge up as much crap as you can to paint them in a bad light while trying to matyr yourself as the "innocent victim".
You're dismissed child.

This has happened to me before...I just PM'ed a person on the knights that I trusted and told him to tell the mission planner to go to a different base.
The 'spy' PM'ed me saying how many people, what planes, what base, and asked me to tell all the Rooks.
Of course I said no.

No, what i ment by this is they stayed on the side with the advantage till the point that the whole base was capped, hence all the freindlies are now low on the deck keeping cap.
Then they used that oppurtunity to switch sides and take off from a different base and come back catching all those people down on the deck.
I would say if they wont in it for the advantage they would have taken off from the capped field.
Say what u want, but I know this happens because I have been a victim of it.
Im not saying that u dont go to side with lowest numbers, but I have also seen u go to the place that will provide the most amount of lower cons;)
Befor u think im blasting them for it, let me say that I really dont find anything wrong with this, I am just making a point.

How exactly am I supposed to know where my team(or any team) has the most amount of lower cons? How?
When I log on, before I take off, I switch sides to the side with the lowest numbers. Then I launch from the closest non-vulched base at the biggest enemy darbar I can find. This isn't out of some side balancing, noble minded thought really.. I just don't want to take a lot of time looking for cartoon planes to shoot. Where in this process I'm supposedly finding the bunch of the lowest cons is beyond me.

Why do u constantly think I am talking about u?? read my posts more clearly these guys were FIGHTING WITH us for a good 20 minutes, then switched sides, they had been logged on for a while, but they chose to switch sides and come back while we were on the deck capping a field.

Warlock, that's just not true. You claimed you were already in Psy Ops, and that you already had Top Secret Clearance. Then, later, you admitted you were going IN to Psy Ops and that you EXPECTED to get Top Secret clearance. You said something that YOU ADMITTED wasn't true...and most people call that a lie.
I find it puzzling that almost everything you use to attack others invovles insults to their "manhood." If you notice, very few other adults do that...just read the posts ofher people make. Unfortunately, your fixation on "manhood" ends up making you look like YOURS is an issue you're insecure about.
A general tip -- if you really don't care, then ignore them and don't say anything. As it is, you make yourself sound like a little kid who's trying to impress his big brother's friends -- a pretender.

Muppets do change countries alot. One reason being not one of us know's who is where until we log on. It then becomes a squad movement to one country or another until we are all in the same country. Case in point; I've been flying as a Rook for the past 3 days or so. I get up tonight and fly in the north country of rookland along witih Lynx but the pickens were slim and we were merely taking turns killing the same guy. I told him I was moving farther south to the large dar bars down by 37 and points south. I up and go tangle with a few guys then hear from squadies spread out all over the place. We finally decided that the Bish could use a lil help and all make the move to that country. I went over. End of story. Whatever the Rooks were doing when I left stayed with them. That's it, nothing more. Every other Muppet does the same thing.
If you don't happen to like that we move to where we chose to fly then please understand we are merely having fun our way. If you think we are spying on anyone then telling another country then you don't know the Muppets. We DON'T need to spy on anyone. We get enough kills, and then some, just by getting up and flying to any nearby enemy dar bar. Anyone who has ever flown in the same airspace as me knows, without a doubt, that I'm more than willing to park overhead and let someone else get in and get a kill. Reason is...there are more than enough kills to go around for everyone flying I don't have to try and steal any kills from anyone.
What you need to do is ask anyone who you believe is trying to offset game play to stop. If he doesn't tell him you will expose him to the rest of the community. It's amazing how much strength the community has when they work together.
As far as warlock goes...quit making really stupid accusations you can't back up. It makes you look like a spoiled child who runs crying to his mommy that "the other guys ain't playing fair"...Waaaaaaaaaaa!

The more you play MMORPGs the more you see the dark side of human nature. The dark side prevails everywhere, government, business, even religion.
-You can't change it
-It will never go away
-Best you can do is suck it down and move on
Your frustration pales to the frustration people like DaGrimVI feel about themselves. Take heart that there are MANY from the "better part of humanity" who feel no pride or fulfillment from dirty tactics.
But then again, THIS IS WAR!
Spying and setting up for an ambush is all part of the game.

Im sure he will have something to say to his acuser.

i would have used that to my advantage simaril. 29 goons seems like a pretty good treat to me. you killl all the goons and kill him. its a win win situation. then you tell him it was his own damn fault for loosing the missions. and then over 200 you blab saying that it was his fault for yall not taking the base.

Whoever came just before Simiral on the roster that night was probably his PM pal and not someone simply randomly clicking other country members to PM.
I've been wrong before though.
Once.
Make it twice now. If you PM someone and they are offline it tells you so.

Guys --
Please note the date of the original post. This thread is a month old, and to be honest the issue was beaten to death the first time through. Let's let the thread die!
-
This account DaGrimVI is paid for by me although ive not used it for 5 or 6 weeks. I am not the sort of person to do this kind of thing and anyone who knows me im sure will tell you the same, But i am the sort of person who is trusting and kind enough to let my account be used for this tour as im busy with other stuff. i wonder if the person responsible for this will come forward and take the flack for this, or just sit back and allow my reputation take a beating as a result of there selfish actions.

Ouch.
danashby (DaGrimIV in game) just PMd me about this today, and I believe his story. The most convincing evidence that someone else used the account is in the scores -- during the time DaGrimVI says he used his account, the KPD was 0.3 to 0.7 with a max time of 75 hours logged on.
This month the Kpdis over 1.7 with 125 hours logged on. Seems pretty hard to believe increases that big could come magically on Nov. 1 if it were the same person.
From every standpoint, this issue ought to just die. Let's let the thread go, and I'd cut DaGrimVI the break it seems he deserves. However, DaGrimVI, if I were you I'd make a password change ASAP.

Well since you are a trusting person.........
May I please have your SS#, Full name, address, bank account including routing numbers, CC information. I will make you a millionaire in 7 days..............Trust me. ;)

Simply put.... you can and will be judged by the folks you hang out with. If you chose to share your account then you have to live with the consequences good or bad.
If you did or if you didn't compromise a mission in a game is a moot point, however most folks won't trust information around you because of the type you hang out with.
Score increases can be attributed to "information sharing".
This action did not affect me in any way shape or form..... just had to add my 2 cents.

Thats fair enough iv found that most of the community is very clicky any way and dont really share info outside there click and i wouldnt expect them to, with or without this incident. Ive found that the ah main arena community is a hard nut to crack if they dont know you they dont wanna know ya, although this isnt tru in all cases, some guys r great and will go out there way to help and make new players feel included but they are a minority, thats one of the reasons i needed a break. I started playing this game to have fun and de stress but its getting to the point where it aint, especially when you think you are doing something good by letting peeps use your account and they just end up causing problems for ya. let this be a lesson to you all dont trust anyone . Simiril thanks for the last comment much appreciated and shuffler i did trust these peeps but i dont hang with them, but let me tell ya you probably have or do and if you think im joking im not. Enough said.

If you'd have read it you wouldn't need to post now.
Amazing how that works, ehh?

I didn't mean to start a text war, I just thought that Grim should have a chance to clear his name in this matter, I knew that Grim did not know about this, and I am at fault for not checking the post date of this thread, It will not happen again.

Gentlemen and ladies,
VI(Virtually Infamous) is a small group of people that like to fly Aces High we dont take it "uber" seriously which is why you've never heard of DaGrimVI or me the C/o MerlinVI.
Secondly I have known the members of the little squadron for some years now and can tell you that we play fair and we play clean and so i was taken aback to see a post about DaGrim who is in my opinion one of the nicest people online that youre ever going to run across.
After speaking to said person and doing a little research it has become apparent that someone who is known to to the squadron was actually using his account, this has now been rectified.
May i firstly apologise to all concerned in that particular server that was or could have been affected by this error and ask all of you to contact me if you ever have a problem with a member of VI and i will look into it and if indeed there is a problem it will be dealt with.
If you speak to anyone who does know of us or me then you will know that i mean what i say and will not tolerate any kind of cheating, abusive behaviour etc from any of the members
Sorry again for any probs caused.....Merlin out.

'nuff said!
