We're looking for pilots/squads who like flying (or escorting) the American heavies in realistic, high altitude close formation missions. Currently the following squads get together every Sunday at 7:30 Eastern to fly a weekly realistic 8th Air Force style bomber mission.
• 78th (B-17 & Escort)
• 484th Bomb Group (B-24)
• 4th Fighter Group (Escort)
• Canadian Eagles Fighter Squadron (Escort)
As the arena/map situation varies wildly from day to day, we check the arenas about 20 minutes before launch and then let everyone know what arena/team we will be flying for. Ideally we try fly all three countries in a rotation, but it really depends on what shape the arenas are in.
The missions are long, normally lasting for about 90 minutes, and bombing strategic targets doesn't make a huge difference in the game. But for Buff Drivers, being part of a large formation of bombers and hitting a strategic target can be a lot of fun.
For more information go to the forums on http://www.simpilots.org

Any chance you could do these Friday evenings or anytime on Saturdays (Day or Evening) or a few hours earlier on Sundays? I have flown with you all many times on these and it is rare that I can make Sunday Evenings.
Just wondering if my schedule is the strange one or are most people in a similar situation were Friday evenings or Saturdays work better for long sessions online.

Have you ever had any large air-to-air combat experiences?
Is it all planned out so that it is CERTIAIN we will run into any opposing forces? Or do you just bomb, and hope somebody on the opposing team is willing to get a group of people to attack us?
If there are attacks on the buff group every sunday, well then I'll be willing to fly with you. However... My computer are t3h cr@p right now... So we'll see.
-
I'll see if we can get a few guys interested from the squad.
-
When football season is over, I'll be able to fly with you.

Our goal is to always see combat. The trick is to select a target and plan a route that will A. give the enemy enough time to see that there is a strat raid going on and intercept it, but B. not so much time that it becomes a slaughter.
For me, a 20% loss rate on the bombers is about right. The escorts will have had lots of action, yet most of the bomber guys will get to bring at least one aircraft home.
And yes, we almost always have good running battles.
-
I don't believe that I can remember a mission where we were'nt attacked.
-
The "running fight" is one of my favorite missions. I look forward to these Sunday night runs in much the same way as the DGS scenario.

I've flown these missions and they're a great time. Trukk and the group are patient and great to fly with. I haven't been able to get on during their scheduled times but, if you can, you should.

I've notified DGS Division 1 and a few others I've flown with in the past.
If any of the other DGS bomber guys want to tag along, PM me and I'll include you in launch time notice.
-
I'm getting a pretty good response from the DGS Scenario buff guys and expect a pretty good turn out. See you Saturday.

Unfortunatley I work Sat Nights, but some of my squadies would like to get involved, do you know what country the Bombers will be flying for yet?

I sure wish I could tell you that, it would make things a lot easier, but the arenas are so dynamic you never know that the player numbers are going to be like, or what map will in place, etc. It's just impossible to plan ahead with the MAs.
-
me and a few squadies are up for some bombing, give me a shot on AH2
-
i do enjoy a good bomber run let me know if your nits and going to have a run i;ll go

SALUTE ALL !!!
I have flown these type of missions for three years and have not once regretted. The pucker factor never goes below -9- and as been previously stated some old hands are our leads, BLKMGC, TRUKK with tight formations and professionalism. There are no guarantees but niether are there complaints, so come one come all and get wasted in style.

Ok I'll pose the question..... what country do we meet on? I suggest we look at the 2 MAs and secure a spot where we are needed most to avoid the eny issue. How do we do that is another issue :)
MGD
-
thats cause they are from the best Bomber squad Warbirds ever had,
550th "Tigertails", woooot!

AH has spawned a few good buffers also!

COOLELY (S)
As an old "TIGERTAIL" I have to agree with you, however BLKMGC and a couple of us now flly with the "484TH" of which 'BLKMGC' is CO, and you gotta remember ROSCO ---- So come on and join some of the old gang and have some fun with us, and not to mention a great bunch of vertual pilots of AH, and MAYBE we can get something like the S3's going here.
Good to see you pal
