This is brilliant marketing, however a VERY CHEAP SHOT! Please tell me I messed something up.

Why is it a cheap shot? What's the big deal about signing up for it?

I can't seem to get h2h to work. If i try and create a session nothing happens, if i try and join a session, it says disconnected from host. Any ideas?

Ok, I don't mind signing up to play Head to Head, in fact thats not bad at all, and you did state you didnt have to start a pay account.
But how come I can't host, nor join after creating an account?
I'm having the same problem Daniko is having...

The CHEAP is that you have to be online (have an Internet connection) to play H2H, what means NO LAN play (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) I think we don't need that kind of H2H, it would better to have 2 player H2H, but LAN, than 8 player online (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

I tend to agree with AborT's post... My friend came over to perhaps get in a little Lan play, I downloaded the new release in a couple minutes (DSL, dont'cha know) and fired it up, and it wants me to make an account, so I posted here, made the account, then tried to make a go of it, no response to making a host, joining causes dump to desktop.
Then I got bored and made the screenshots for my other thread...

I think its better than h2h lan play for 2.
Most seem to be playing on the net anyway and it gives more of an idea as to what its like with multiple bogies.

The main pleasure of H2H is playing without spending money for connection. If 4 guys have connection at home and socks proxy, they can fly 2 weeks for free anyway, connect - sux, warps, but they play, and waiting for H2H. And now they've got same way of playing, but "for free". After 2 weeks of warps and disco's, i don't think they are gonna play this kind of "H2H". It's better to have 2 player H2H for LAN, than 8 multiplayer for online.

WE had 4 to 6 players on a cablemodem h2h server last night no problems other than it appeared that when someone was joining the arena the host screen would stop for a second or 2.. or 5.
Just a note I was unable to use the beta terrain which is listed first btw, so be sure to use the non beta terrain!
Also, for those that don't know, you get quite a bit of control over your h2h arena settings. I set ours up so that we burned 0 fuel (stay up for ever), I turned kill shooter OFF ( 0 setting) so same country can kill each other, I turned collisions ON, and
Gave us all 10X normal ammo load.
Only additions we need are, in order of priority:
1. ability for in flight level starts for H2h ladder duels and wingman tourament play.
2. Kill reporting so there is NO doubt as to who the dueling winner is.
3. Lan option

Anyone else see the irony in HTC being accused of being "cheap" because they supposedly won't give something away?
And the guys complaining somewhat acidly that the Internet option isn't good enough, that it should be LAN?
I played WB H2H long before I could afford to go online and play. Sure, there were things I would have liked to have seen added, things that would have added a lot to play for me. OTOH I would never have had the nerve to berate ICI for their lack of inclusion. I was appreciative for what I had.
This seems to me to be like a father giving his son a blue corvette, and the son giving the keys back saying "I thought it was going to be red!"
Before anyone starts parsing the english, what has been promised is "free 8 player H2H". Anyone demanding LAN over Internet in effect is removing themselves as a potential customer of HTC, and tell me, why is HTC responsible to support that?

Have you tried a H2H session again today. We had some problems with the login server last night but that's fine now.

Guys, I dont think he was whining. I think he just sincerely thought that a PAID account would be necessary. Which it is NOT.
requiring an account (unpaid that is) is a great way for HTC to get potentials on their mailing list, a small price to pay to play AH in an 8 man arena.

Anything for nothing? No, i want LAN 4 player H2H for $80. As a Quake, or any other multiplayer game. I'm ready to pay. "AH2H in a box", or "AH Special edition H2H". Ummm... donno about that free account for H2H
First I gotta say I was surprised that Hitech would provide the ability for free multi-player, but then maybe more folks will get hooked and start paying.
I quit AH some time ago because it wouldn't work right on my computer. But I wanted my nephew to give it a try, so I downloaded 1.02 and went through the Create an Account deal in H2H. Although I was only able to create a 8 player arena 1 out of a dozen or so tries, my so called free account did allow me to get into the main game. I fooled around with a tank some... holy cow Hitech, you have done a great job!! I'll have to somehow resolve my problems here or get a new computer!
Anywho... maybe this should be checked into. Either the free H2H account isn't free, or it's providing a back door into the game.

Is that what you are supposed to get when you create an account under H2H? I guess I'm just cornfused. Can or can not my nephew play H2H free? Does free H2H mean my nephew will have two weeks to try it free? If so, why even bother with H2H if he can play in the main arena for two weeks free?
As for me, it doesn't matter anyway. I just went in and tried flying but it's the same old thing... compression, stalling and spinning no matter what I do <sigh>.
I can create a H2H arena, but I get no response when I click on the Fly, Hanger and Map buttons. I can't get into an existing H2H arena at all. After trying a number of times, I eventually get dumped to the desktop.
I guess it ain't meant to be, back to AW =o(

HiTech and Ace's High people,
THANK YOU for not only giving us v1.02 - with it's amazing vehicles and awesome A/G aspect, but also for the ability to run up to 8 online for free.
Oh - and perhaps the biggest thank you is reserved for your amazing patience and "thick skin" for putting up with "that certain element" that can complain about something they are getting for free. There is an option guys, if you don't like what's been contributed for free, don't take it.
I know that it's hard for some of my squaddies to pay the monthly fee, and I can understand that. I am *very* glad to have this free option now, so that all of the squad can participate. It also leaves open the capability of 2 vs 2 tournaments and the like - held outside of the AH online servers.
Thank you again! Online v1.02 has been great - looking forward to try 8 player, non-server option!

I understand what you are saying about the LAN play- I guess I don't agree with the method of relaying it.
It's one thing to ask for something in a respectful way. It's another one altogether to berate HTC for their choice of delivery. They are after all an Internet company that makes money when you play their game on the Internet.
Before you say they could box and sell it, that too has been tried (unsuccessfully) before.
I don't care if they do or don't include LAN play, though I know people that would use it if it was included. My take on your (Abort) comment was that it is better for them to have 2-player LAN than 8-player Internet. I understand why it is better for you. Tell me how it is better for HTC.

First, i said they can box h2h, or an "AH SE H2H". Second, "h2h in a box" is better for HTC, because they get money ($80, as i offered). I think it's the only thing that better for them. They work, they get money. It's their choice to sell or not to sell h2h. If HTC think that "free multiplayer host" will bring them more money - i'll not say a word.

WOW! You mean not only are they offering free H2H, but are also giving a free two week trial? This is terrific! Now all Hitech needs is to advertise and new players will come flocking in. I gotta get a new 'puter.

I have to back Kieren up here.
ANYTIME you get something for free I don't care what it is it's obviously on a "AS IS" basis.
Either accept it gratefully & say thank you.
Or decline it with a certain amount of grace & say No thank you.
As to a lan version, well thats up to HTC & co. Personally seeing what they've pulled off
i'd rather have them continue working on online stuff (read adding planes, vehicles, stuff for tanks to hide in) than work on something only a few would use.

I know that people are always asking lot of things some are feasable other are not.
Lot of good ideas on the forum and it would be a darned good thing to say to us in the
message board which ideas you are taking in considerations and the ones you are not and
telling us why not!
Regarding the free 8 players online it is

Like all new work need to be reffined I am sure now that you are working on those bugs.
