I still have my original copy of red alert aftermath and counter strike. They are win 95 games and don't work on 98 or vista.
Does anyone have an idea about the patch to allow them to work? I kind of hate to throw them away and I know that they were re released with some kind of mod just recently. Since I already have them I hate to buy them again.

Create an icon on the desktop, right click and choose properties. Click on the compatibility tab and run the program under Windows 95 compatibility mode.
Doesn't always work but it's worth a shot.

sadly I have a few programs like described that XP won't allow to install even. during the installation a message comes up that it can only be installed on older machines.
one example is a great guitar editing software I paid like $100 for, it would be nice to use, but well :(

If you have a copy of 98 around could try installing the whole os with something like vmware. then running it from there.

I can't get it to install either. I just get a message indicating the progream is a 95 and will not run in 98.

I rebought the old C&C games a few months ago when they were re-released for XP, I think it was only $20, alot easier than trying to run the older CDs. I wish they would re-release the old Wing Commander games...

I am in the process of building a "fun" box with some old spare parts, and am going to do a dual-boot of win 98 and linux.
it should be fun to play around with that system once I get it going. :aok
