Title: Small request fighting in AvA
Post by: DmdJJ on November 10, 2007, 01:29:36 PM
I'm not complaining, but could we all agree if you see a 1 vs 1 stay out of it let it play out on its own. Its starting to turn into a small MA with the cherry picking thats starting to happen. I've had some great fights going  in this arena just to get spoiled by someone coming in for a quick easy kill. With the 109K4 in this plane set it just make its worse as its tater gun takes anything out with one shot.

Preach on brother.  I've already given up the fight but I'll donate a "second the motion";)

Im still new to the AvA, and I try to stay out of 1v1s. But it sure does suck when I get picked. never know who is around, lol. Bigger challange in the AvA and I like it. Still learnign the ropes.

I do try to fly that way.  If a certain someone is swooping in on my fight I'll break it off and let the con know I'm breaking off the fight on 200.

I feel your pain and, as an aside (from a non-active), the AvA isn't actually the dueling arena. Just sayin'. Other than that, when numbers are low and an AvA event isn't happening, it's not an entirely unreasonable request to make, spur of the moment. But the CT (predecessor to the AvA) was not set up as a "chivalry" arena, by any means. Some may come there to escape "MA habits" but it wasn't designed for that.

"The Axis versus Allies arena is set up for historical gameplay.  There is a two sided war, a limited plane set, and reduced radar."

Still, more power to ya.

I'm sorry, who are you?  We used to have an Arlo here, but he abandoned us years ago and hasn't flown with us since.  The last we heard, he was in Texas, but we're not sure where he is now.

Arlo, dude, you have missed much.  Having 20 people in the MA now is a major improvement, and preserving the sanctity of 1 v 1 is a good thing.  You might think of purchasing a joystick so that YOU COULD COME BACK AND SEE!

Mmmmmmmjoystick. Erm ....

Trust me .... the pull is strong and the desire is there. I'm driving fellow workers crazy with ramblings about AHII, VF-17, cons, flightsim gear, etc.

LMAO:rofl

Amazing how every one claims that they respect the 1 vs 1 in the AvA but when you go in all you see cherry picking gang banging and running, with vulching being the latest ACM of the arena.

Oldman, more is not always better.  Yeah you got people in it now.  What you don't have is an AvA.  You managed to create a mini MA :aok

Yeah, Oldmans fault. He has the ability to make people play the way he wants and thats the route he chose.

Not what I said Slash.  i was responding to him saying that there are more people in the AvA now.  We had some discussions on what biger numbers would do for the AvA in the past.  Don't  try to make something else out of it.  I'll let you know when i am talking to you :aok

Boy. The concept of public forums seems to conflict directly with the pretentiousness of some who post in them. :D

Arlo, are you going to just hang around the boards standing on your soap box or are you going to grab a cartoon plane and get you butt wooped?

Ok. Plan. We show up at the HTC offices and bug them frequently. Either it'll get us booze or banned from the premises.

Not really true, Ded.  The present dynamic is different from that of a few months ago, for sure, but it isn't down to MA standards by any means.

I appreciate the sense that you and others have that the classic AvA has changed, and that some would rather keep the numbers very low and the quality of the fights very high.  I've been impressed with the spirit of the new folks, and I think they'll all be working toward making the fights memorable.

We could really use your skills in here, you know.
