Title: Noob question - chat buffer font size?

So I've finally subbed up to AH and am getting the client setup as I like it.

Have read around a bit but can't find if it's possible to the change the chat buffer font down to something smaller.

Can someone point me in the right direction pls? (if it's possible that is).

I don't think it is possible to change chat font size (atleast I haven't heard of a way to), but there's a way to chage the Icon size of enemy and friendly planes.

I think that only effects the icon size (and color), not the text window font size.

To the best of my knowledge chat buffer size is tied to Video Resolution.

Only way to make it bigger or smaller is to change resolution.

Hmm - bugger.

I play at 1600x1200 and you get 3 lines in the chat buffer that make it look like I'm playing a game at 640x480.

The font in the GUI options is indeed only for the icons.

That's bizarre because your resolution should make it very small. Have you moved it and adjusted transparency to make it unobtrusive?

Here is my chat buffer @ 1280 x 1024. Yours should be even smaller.

I just got a new computer and the monitor has 1920 by 1200 resolution. The text box is only three lines of very blocky text. Everything else is very high quality graphics. The ~ key does not increas the text box size either like my previous computer.

Any ideas why the ~ key does not work?

Anti-aliasing smooths text quality. You shouldn't shift for the ~ key. Just the ' key, or check keyboard mapping in game under options on clipboard.

I have the default keyboard map. The ` key does not toggle the text buffer size like my old computer.

My Check 6 button ' is not working either. Any ideas?

Try this:

From the Clipboard in the game, go to Options > Controls > Map Keys

Remap the `(KEY_TILDE) for message size toggle and ' (KEY_QUOTE) key as Check 6 in Global settings.

Note: You could try using another unused key (such as the / or * keys on the NUMPAD) if your keyboards are strange, but I don't like to advise anyone to change from default keys because there is no way to reset all to default if you make a mistake.
