brotherhood has me hooked too.

This Dexter?

Dexter has definitely picked up steam. I never thought I would be able to get the image of David Fisher getting nailed by a Vegas male escort out of my brain. But, now I don't even think about SFU. One of the best shows on TV.
-
i thought i would be stuck with that image too.
hasn't crossed my mind since the first show.
thankfully.

strangely, as the wife and I was watching it tonite I made the comment it's nice seeing him bang a chick for a change. We watched 6 feet under and that image was indeed hard to remove from memory.

not a bad one to be doin' it with either.
rowr.

Rowr, indeed!:t
Jaime Murray is smokin' hot. Her accent doesn't hurt either.
-
I was wondering and going to ask if anyone else was watching this show.
Or if I was the only one to find this rather bizarre show interesting in a weird way.
I mean the hero is also the villan.
Does Dexter remind anyone else of Jeffrey Dahmer?
Whenever I look at him thats the first person I think of
-
his sister is a flake
Carradine is good addition to the show
-
If you put both of those women together they might make one with a good figure.. can you imagine living with either of em? they got to be hungry all the time.
But... my girlfriend loves dexter the show... I got to say... it is pretty darn good. I like the idea behind it. I record em and we watch em together. She liked the shield that way too.
When I seen the first episode I had to laugh.. it reminded me of something an ex girlfriend had said to me once... she asked "have you ever thought about using your powers for good?"

I've only seen a couple of episodes of the second season.
But I have read the first and second books.

Just started watching recently, great show. :aok

My wife enjoys the show which is rare for her when murder is involved.
-
Haven't missed an episode yet. I think I liked the first season better than the second though.

Sunday nights at 9 on Showtime. C'mon Mom, a serial killer that is a good guy? Did I mention he's a CSI cop on the trail of...himself?
This show has more plot twists than a pretzel factory.

Nah, that cuts me out (good thing I ain't interested). During the school year, I turn our cable down to basic, so the kids don't spend their waking hours zoned out in front of it.... Yes, Stalinistic Mom... who makes her kids read books to go to sleep.
*edit* And I guess that explains why I'd never heard of it :)

If it's not already, should be out on DVD soon.

True :) Maybe I'll look at getting at least the season 1.
Gotta finish Waltons season3 first *wink*

Mom, you're a big reader. You might want to check out the books by Jeff Lindsay the show is based on.

The books are a little bit different. A little bit darker, and way shorter then each season.

Chuck pwns Dexter

no way dude.
chuck is an AARP member now.

WOW! Great episode this week. This show just keeps getting better and better.
The real meat and potatoes of this show is the obsession Doakes has with Dex. I wouldn't mind seeing him get a spinoff. That's a great character.
-
Yea was good and the previews for next week look even better. They have announced a season 3 so this next one can't be the end of it.
It's also my favorite show right now.

it really is great. nailbiter this week.
i have a feeling that doaks gonna end up taking the rap for the murders.
just a hunch.
what are they gonna do? have season 3 in prison?
nah.
he'll get out of it this time...
would it be terrible to say that i hope so?
oh jeebus.

Yea I was thinking that or maybe he's dreaming, but I'll lean toward Doaks taking the fall.
-
I haven't read the books so I don't know the storyline. Anyone have any spoilers?

i was thinking dreaming too...but more as a part of the storyline than the endgame.
possible plot: doaks tries to show the slides to the investigators and they think that he has gone off the deep end and call in dexter to id the samples.
or something like that...gonna be good methinks...whatever it is.
-
lets see...
Doakes has the slides.
Doakes didn't show up to his dinner meeting.
There's a body, freshly chopped up at the same time as the dinner meeting.
The cops at the bowling alley didn't see the guy that attacked Dexter.
Dexter was defusing his girlfriend(s) situation and has a plausible alibi.
Yeah, Doakes is going to death row.
-
Yea I think Doakes is going down for this one...Especially since they introduced that his father is a butcher, and he was entertaining the idea of getting into the trade.
-

I think the writers are just teasing us with that. I joined the series late but from what I understand Dexter only murders murderers. These guys definitely know how to spin a tangled web.
-
I don't think Doakes is going to get that spinoff afterall. ;)
-
i knew it!
great episode!
does anyone else want to nail lila before dropping here off a very tall bridge?
shes hot, but damn...nutjob!!!

It is a proven scientific fact... the nuttier the woman, the hotter the sex.
-
30 helens agree...
-
Deb kills Doakes next episode...Guranteed.
-
iiiiiinteresting theory.
very.
-
ehhh on second though, i'm retracting that gurantee, but I do have a strong hunch...
I hate to think the writers are really making it this simple, but just like everyone said last week...They announce that Doakes's pops was a butcher, and suprise suprise...Doakes is now the suspect...
Tonight they focus on Debs gun and how she is going to protect Dex.......ugh....I just hope its not that simple...
I just cant see Dexter actually killing Doakes...He abandoned Harry's code once already this season, and it turned out to be a BIG MISTAKE. He won't abandon the code again IMO.
That leaves either Deb coming in and thinking Doakes has Dexter, shooting him dead....Or Dexter...well I dont know...lmao
-
i think that you may be right.
not sure how it will get there...but it's definitely a solid theory.
-
I know it was just a teaser, but Dex was laying out "the tools". Unless he was going to get Doakes' prints on them and set him up, the dude is chopped liver....literally.
-
i think you are correct.
-
another scenario that popped through my head was one which explores a helsinki syndrome type relationship. he keeps him in a cage. he reveals himself to him. he tells him EVERYTHING.
doaks begins to sympathize...he tells dexter about his life in special forces.
they bond.
-
Damn 88, that's just deep and twisted enough it might actually happen. One thing's for sure, this show keeps you on your toes.
Don't know if this is a spoiler or not, but Lila is only listed for a few episodes on IMDB. Hmm...

That was my first guess too. Dexter most definitely wouldn't murder Doakes.
The only problem is the FBI. They won't go anywhere until the case is solved, so how would the case solve itself without a butcher? They wouldn't leave it at Doakes being innocent after all, not without finding a butcher.
One thing is a big indicator of Doakes and Dexter becoming friends: How would Dexter explain to the feds that he ran from the bodyguards to catch the butcher alone? That just doesn't cut it. Instead Dexter ran from the bodyguards to help Doakes, who otherwise would been arrested as the butcher had the feds knew about his where abouts.
Of course Dexter and Doakes could frame this guy from the Dexter's past, now in resting in pieces. That just doesn't sound like a convincing resolution to the season though. Finding the butcher in pieces would raise some serious doubts and after all this trouble having the butcher dissapear, presumed escaped, would be too easy.
I'd find it rather odd if Doakes would be fried as the butcher. It wouldn't fit into the scheme of the series - Bad guys gets what's due and good guys live.
-
that's why i think he will let him live.
stretching even further...doaks becomes the control agent. he buys into it. into the justice end.
remember, doaks screwed up the convictions with these guys too. they've mentioned this several times. there must be a reason. what is it?
the dark avenger.
-
Remember this as well, Doakes may not be the good guy we all think. He was a trained special forces assassin. Maybe he will let enough slip about his past that Dex can do him and still "follow the code". I'm sure there were a couple innocent bystanders that got in the way.
-
ahhhhhh.
nice observation.
-
Sure looks like Doaks is going down but there may be a twist in there somewhere yet.
-
I kept expecting the FBI guys to show up @ the shack when Doaks had him handcuffed. Then they would shoot him dead thinking he had somehow kidnapped Dexter and was going to kill him.
guess that's didn't happen lol.
-
The question is how will Dex explain the gunshot wound in his leg?
I just bought the Season 1 DVD for my sister's x-mas present. She's never seen the show and is a big CSI/Autopsy/Idetective fan. I think she will really enjoy Dex. :)

HOLY CHITT!!! i didnt think any of yall watched this show!!
i love it its def my favorite show on TV!!!
i love how smart his charactor is. next week is gonna be awesome. i wonder if he really is gonna kill doakes???
but this show def has a great story line. my favorite part this season was when he head butted doakes and then he made doakes look like the bad guy!
i love how he thinks ( not the killing part) but just how smart he is.
i cant wait for next season too!
-
it's spelled "commitment" smart guy. (dmonslyr)
;)
(see sig)
-
I couldn't bare myself to wait for two more weeks when I had the last two episodes within the reach. Dexter is one of the very few and best series on TV - now for two full seasons. 12 episode seasons were an excellent choice from the producers, leaving no need for boring and self-obvious twists.
-
what makes dexter work is his lack of empathy and his lack of fear.
As the writers cave in and give him more of both.. the show will fall apart.
And the people who wanted him to have more empathy and more fear won't understand why.
lazs
-
Not too much empathy or fear in the final 2 episodes :)
-
yes... I believe the show was going in the wrong direction and the writers figured it out in time.
It only works when he is pretending to be like us... when he becomes like us he becomes just another bad guy justifying what he is doing.
lazs
-
I think what he is doing is justifiable. If our justice system can't or won't keep murderers off the streets then citizens will take justice into their own hands. We're all to blame but those who have been entrusted with this responsibility are doubly to blame.

I'm pretty sure they are following the storyline from the novels so far (with a tweak or two).
