aviator (http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/av8r.htm) or evo (http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/evo.htm)
for the basics

Or if you have money burning a hole in your pocket...
x-52 (http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/x52pro.htm)

This is what I use (better retail prices at provantage.com)
CH Fighterstick (http://www.chproducts.com/retail/j_fighter_usb.html)
Pro Throttle (http://www.chproducts.com/retail/t_pro_throttle.html)
Pro Pedals (http://www.chproducts.com/retail/pedals.html)

Vista is the devil, reformat, reinstall XP, keep the sidewinder.  :)

In the last post Tarmac speaks of the  logi's rudder going out..repeatedly.

Thats exactly what is happening to mine.

Rudder was always very spikey!  I now have deadband almost halfway up on rudder and it will still mess me up in a fight sometimes!

I have CH pedals on the way tho!:aok (little birthday present to myself:D )

I like the layout of the logi x3d for a twisty stick... but it is 10 dollar quality in a 30 dollar box.
:(
