Saw a trailer for a new Will Ferrell movie thats coming out in February called Semi-Pro, Will plays an owner/coach/player of a ABA team in Michigan. Here's a link:
Come on people, let's get sweaty, basketball sweaty:rofl (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0839980/trailers-screenplay-E35484-314)

1. pick random sport
2. insert Will Ferrell into role
3. use 70's "retro" feel in modern day plot
4. make pseudo-homosexual jokes throughout movie
5. feign cursing to appeal to 12 year old boys, and make movie PG-13
6. ...profit?

Not much of a fan of Will Ferrell.

atleast the guy knows his role in life and sticks to crude humor. He could try to play a serious dramatic role, but who would buy that?

he tried in stranger than fiction, supposedly got good reviews, but in my opinion the movie sucked. don't waste any money on it.

Come on Will Ferrell has been in some of the funniest movies, Anchorman, Elf, Old School(the best one), I haven't seen Blades of Glory yet but it looked funny, and yes he has done some bombs, but what actor hasn't?
-
what are you schmoe's talkin about?
he's hilarious.
dear baby jesus... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuAUI_0knfk)

I think Elf was the start of the downfall...
yes I own anchorman, old school, and wedding crashers. those are hilarious, but once I saw ricky bobby "unrated" and they still bleeped the f-bomb in the big red commercial, I was like WTF is with him and this movie?
yes there were a few funny parts, but nothing as good as him crashing funerals :lol
stranger sucked, and when my buddies kids even didn't like that ice skating movie, well...
I think I am getting fed up with his 70's obsession a bit too. like I said I own anchorman, but whe he keeps on with the same shtick it gets old. kind of like a pauly shore movie. the weasel was funny for a while, then the backlash was huge.

I wish Harold Crick would have died... actually I can still hope because I couldn't get through that film. How did it end?
His crude humor is great though. Dear 5lb, 8oz baby Jesus... rofl.
:lol

Will Farrel is amusing, but only in a supporting role. I don't find him too funny.
-
A lil Will goes a Loooooooooooong ways.
-
I'm sure some of you guys have seen this already, but here it is from Will Ferrell's website FunnyorDie.com, it's a video called landlord where his real life daughter plays the part of his landlord.

I find him amusing in a wait for cable kind of way. I though Elf was great, and felt they could have done a lot more with the Anchorman premise. Talladega Nights was a solid bust on the whole Tom Cruise formula of the 80s.
Charon

I think Will Ferrel, George Bush, the drummer from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Darrell Waltrip are all the same person.

Don't forget Old School, that was probably he's funniest movie ever.
Frank the Tank: it's so good, once it [beer] hits your lips, its so good ...

Yes, but he wasn't the lead character for Old School.

Maybe not the lead, but a main character, and a hilarious one at that.

I'd rather have a root canal without anesthesia than watch anything with Will Ferrell. What passes for comedy these days sucks.

 - that wasn't very funny.
-
It wasn't meant to be.
Will Ferrell, and what passes for comedy in his movies, and a lot of the other crap out there, reminds me of the stupid stuff 8 year old little boys used to giggle hysterically about sitting in the back of the bus. It wasn't even funny when I was 8.

I've ALWAYS found Bill Cosby to be very enjoyable.

With the exception of most of his TV show as Cliff Huxtable, I agree.

Oh but I am serious...
Don Rickles
Robin Williams
Red Skelton
George Carlin
Bill Cosby
Robert DeNiro (can be a very funny guy)
George Gobel
The Smothers Brothers
Rodney Dangerfield
Bob Hope
Sorry but if you think Will Ferrell has been in some of the funniest movies, then you havent watched enough movies...
-
I thought the snl skit where the teleprompter goes out on a news cast was a hoot
-
AHHH YES
Red Skelton
Carol Burnette
Tim Conway
Still remember the skit where Conway started talkin about the Siamese elephants connected at the trunk. His description about when they sneezed :rofl
George Gobal
Enjoyed the Coneheads too
Guess I'm kinda old school but I don't find the cussing thing that seems to be "IN" now very funny. At least the way they do it now just leaves me cold most of the time.
Red Fox was good in Sanford and Son.
Will Ferrel just isn't very funny to me. Not sure why people find him so funny?
