Title: Strange discos =(
Post by: porkfrog on November 16, 2007, 07:52:17 PM
I've developed an odd problem and I don't know whats wrong. If I take off in buffs and go on a lengthy, hi-alt run, after I drop my payload, I end up getting discoed. My eggs hit square in a city strat but I only end up destroying a few buildings and then I get the host lost msg. It's pretty frustrating.

Any ideas anyone? BTW- I have cable, a good comp, and have been playing 2 years without ever having this problem. Only been happening a week or so now.

Thanks in advance for any help.

More a reply because others have not but here goes a few guesses.

Any custom sound packs installed?
Sometimes a bad custom gunsight can do this also but this happens mostly when  bombing it seems.

What happens if you goto the TA and use the bombing range in upper right and use an airspawn? Does that change the symptoms at all?

What happens during a low altitude bomb drop on a similar target?

What happens when you do the same thing offline?

Really does sound like a corrupt sound or gunsite (possibly skin) file. Skuzzy?

I am running USRangers soundpack. No custom gunsights.

It doesn't happen on low alt runs. Only hi alt- long range, milk runs.

I haven't tried it offline.

First thing to do and fairly easy is go back to default sounds and try a flight or three.

Question- all heavy bombers or just one specific ride?

Remove custom sounds first and try it.  If ou have a corrupt sound file, it can cause a crash.
