Wish:
For the ability to assign specific players to specific colors for ground based (ship based) viewing of the radar. Or ground and airborne as well.. if it is easier.
So a squadron could be set to color ".radcol "
OR
A way to assign a specific player to a color ".radcol "
-
BTW this would be a CM enabled feature for scenarios...

Greetings,
As I recall, (away from home computer this week), when tuned to a specific vox channel - like squad vox or even on a numbered channel - everyone else is a different color from the generic friendly dot.
Regards,

Doesn't the .wingman command do this for you? But only one player at a time....
-
Sure does, not wanting to track 1 person only though. But that is why I figured they could probably enable this for squadrons (as mentioned above) or single people, yet multiples of each.
Again this not a main arena item, but useful for certain (ahem) scenarios.
-
Ah.
It sounds a little modern though - would commanders have had that much radar capability back in WWII?
-
No they didnt, but then again, an A6M2 couldnt catch a P-51D in a dive from 20k to the deck and shoot it down!
Just me 2 cents.
They couldnt pick out individual wingman either, so the .wingman command shouldnt work then either!

Greetings,
Ya, I know he doesn't want to talk to 'em. But seem to remember that when tuned to Squad Vox, my squaddies are a different Dar dot color from the rest of the friendlies - it is in the GUI control pallette I think.
I don't know if it works for wing men as well.....

You can turn on squad highlights....then you can choose a color for your squads....or to whom you are tuned on vox.......default is blue, i think.
Wingman, one, can be set as well.....shows white by default.
That all makes sense, since you'd be in radio contact with these people, and therefore, know where they are....
You wouldn't know one enemy (Knits) from another (Bish) so they all show red (default) on dar.

There was this thing called IFF. Different Squadrons could tune different settings.
Also they had plotters that kept track of the locations of friendly plots on a huge glass board and more than one person doing the work.
This is an attempt to have the same results in scenarios without the infrastructure.

I like this idea.
So say, 4th FG is blue, 474th FG is green, 352nd FG is red...so on.

Each American Carrier in WW2 had a fighter director with radar direction.
The British had command and control based upon radar plots during the battle of Britian and afterwards in the Channel battles up through the invasion.
Both sides of the tactical air battles over the channel had radar coverage at one point or another.

Try this one
.wingman
theyll show up if theyre not in the tower :]

Thanks Trigger but that is not what or why I am asking it.

I think a simpler method of achieving this would be to have an arena setting such that when selected radar was only viewable from the tower.
If you wanted to go a step further then you initiate missions (to obtain these different icon dot colours) where there is the role "controller" that remains in the tower.
