RIPON, Calif. - Six cheerleaders are fighting suspensions after they flashed football fans a message on their underpants. Vice Principal Ken Goeken ordered the girls to serve suspensions Tuesday and Wednesday for defying their coach and going ahead with a special cheer they choreographed for the last day of the football season.

At the end of the cheer, the girls bent over, lifted their skirts and showed the crowd the words "Indians No. 1" on their bloomers.

The girls — who missed reading scenes from William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" and fear their grades will suffer — are asking to make up coursework and instead be banned from cheering at an upcoming basketball game

The article was misquoted.

It did not say "Indians No. 1"

It actually said:

Cheerleaders are generally sluts anyway. It's interesting that school isd's have always allowed cheerleader outfits to be a little bit risque in school but don't condone such behaviour, i feel it a little bit two sided. We as adults preach abstinence and reservation, yet school districts allow their children to wear extremely short skirts and do splits in the air flashing their underwear to everyone. Funny....

It's not just the school districts which allow it in those instances. It's the parents of those children who allow the girls to dress like tramps as well.

I dunno.  I'm gonna call  :noid  on their reaction.

I'm a gymnast parent.  My daughter and her teammates spend 4.5 hours at a time working out in gymnastics leotards which make the 'bloomers' I've seen on any cheerleader seem puritan by comparison,.. and they don't wear any skirts to feign modesty.

Couple that with the propensity of 'Gap', 'Justice', and any number of other fashion outlets to peddle sweatpants that have words emblazoned about the tush such as 'Pink' .. Gymnast... Tumble.. Abercrombie.. Old Navy..  etc ad nausem.

Unless the cheerleading undergarments in other parts of the country differ greatly than what I'm accustomed, I think anybody getting bent out of shape by cheerleaders exposing their uniform 'underwear' is just blowing smoke to be seen.
