Yeah I would have to agree on that.
Rule number one if you live in furnished home is to never get down to a level were you no longer have atleast a 12 hour supply of alcohol for you and your guests.
Sooooo... either dump your firends, or makes sure you have a large supply.
-
noob....never get in that situation in the first place. NOW if you do then get some sleep and first thing in the morning on the way to school or work stop by the store and buy at least 3 cases. Send one to the address I am PMing you and keep the other two for yourself. The one you will send to me is for payment since you asked for drunk advice.

what sucks is some people don't know places like where I live exist. a suburb of Milwaukee, the HOME of beer, and in every county Mil and around, no liquor sales for take home use after 9 PM. you can go to a bar until 1:30 AM but can't buy a 6 pack of beer @ 8:55 PM because the stores freak out about selling after 9 and shut down their registers.
sorry it just really pisses me off, especially when the hours I was working was noon - 9 PM
-
that's pretty noobish behavior. around here we don't have blue laws or anything remotely resembling limitations on the sales of alcohol but frau storch knows better than to leave me unstoked. in my effort to lose weight (currently plateaued at 217-219 lbs) the doc has recommended that I minimize my alcohol consumption so I have but it's comforting to see the beer fridge full of beer and the garage stacked with many twelve packs.

Yeah, I have been on a little diet meself, 6'3" 205, but I like being around 185. Beer is my last bastion of dietless endulgence though! Good to hear someone keeps stock!:aok

I lived in an area with those stupid alcohol laws... The net effect was that I kept a rather large stockpile on hand all the time and ended up drinking well over triple the amount I would have otherwise.
Those laws are retarded but many Americans (I call most of them democrats but non-conservative republicans do it too) simply cannot resist the opportunity to encode into law their own personal opinions about what everyone else ought to be doing.
Eating fish gives me a headache... It's a migraine trigger for me. Maybe I should try to get a law passed that bans fish sales from 8pm friday through 6AM Monday. That would solve the immense moral cesspit we have when all you other sinners eat fish over the weekend, when everyone knows that if I also eat fish with you guys I'll get a migraine.
Plus it's a proven fact that killing fish hurts the earth, hurts the fish, and causes global warming. Just ask al gore and his geneva based wizards council (they don't use actual science so they must come to their conclusions via magical means).
Damn busybodies. Ron Paul has it right... Repeal everything but the constitution and start over (right after hanging the lawyers).
-
At least the moral cesspit which is SF has the liquor laws right... :D
Vodka at the grocery store on sale on Sunday :aok
-
In MN we can't buy off-sale after 8 PM or on Sundays and you have to go to a liquor store.
When I lived in NY you could buy it anytime at any grocery or convenience store but... they only had beer, to get harder alchohol you had to go to the liquor store. To get a broader selection of beer you had to go to the beverage mart (who only had beer and soda).
When we stopped one day in Vermont to have dinner on the deck of this bar/restaurant, they wouldn't serve us alchohol outside because you couldn't drink in view of the public.
When my brother first moved to Wyoming, they had drive-up windows at the liquor stores and you could drive up and order a mixed drink and drive away.
Funny how varied the laws are around the country.

I think we have drive-thru liquer places here. Like McDonalds happy meals, for grown-ups.

Yup, that's what I grew up with in Texas. Also curbside carhops serving beer to ya in your car at a drive-in.
Shoot, I remember seeing bubbas driving round in San Antonio with a beer can on their dashboard taking a legal sip of beer right in plain view of a policeman next to them at a traffic light.
Imagine my surprise to see the state of Washington preventing free enterprise by limiting liquor sales only to itself as a state government. I still think that is unconstitutional but each state gets to decide for itself a lot of things.

Go to the bathroom.
Stretch out near the toilet on the cool flat tile floor.
There. Now you won't fall and hurt yourself, and it's a good consciousness validation to be able to raise yourself high enough to barf in the toilet.
Not that I've ever been in that situation. I just read about these things. (sarcastic symbol, green with rolling eyes, doubles as post-binge icon)
Be grateful it's only beer and not (1) starboard lights (half gin, half creme de menthe when too lonely on deployment), (2) toxic margaritas from a home bartender, (3) bourbon and cokes used as thirst quencher instead of water after coaching Little League game in record heat.
One of our classic family stories is the wife and kids stepping over me (my feet stuck out in the hallway from the foyer bathroom) en route to church, saying, "We hope you feel better, Daddy."
Fortunately these three boozers were long ago. Third time was a charm. Yes, I eventually am trainable.

I used to live in a small township in WI. If I was going to be working past 9pm, I would call Joanie (the lady who owned the liquor store) and she would put a case (or whatever I needed) on the stoop under a box or garbage can.
I would pick it up at 11pm and then drop by the next day to pay for it.:)
Beer orders could only be conducted this way during the summer months because of temperatures.

Ahhhhhhhh
Nevada
24/7 365
Casino's, grocery stores, convenience stores.
Funny to see relatives come from Kansas and freak out that they sell Jack Daniels at Safeway.
I remember living/re-visiting Oklahoma. I visited a liquor store and bought a bottle of wine. They couldn't sell anything to help you drink that alcohol. No glasses, ice, openers, etc.
It's funny to take friends to Kansas and explain 3.2 beer.

guess i wont be bakeing anymore beer rolls
still drinking Whiskey tho

24/7/365 here. Beer, vodka, anything.
Soviet times: 11-19, only restaurants later, like 30% more expensive. If you found yourself too sober - then every taxi driver had some. State price (my time) was 10 roubles for a half-litre of vodka, 50 kopeykas for a 0.5L of beer, they sold vodka for 30 and beer for a rouble. But I started drinking in Gorby time, "dry law", drinking laws were selling booze from 14 to 19, we had many funny stories in the Uni fighting for alcohol until 91. Then it became much easier, in student years we preferred pure ethanol ;)
Now we have some restrictions, like nothing stronger then 10% vol in any store that doesn't have 10 square meters hall or after 23:00 if a store that doesn't have a special license, but most of them have. Like I bought a can of Arsenal Strong beer in a local Uzbek (or Tajik? I don't see difference in Farsi dialects, this Winter them sellers didn't speak Russian at all) tonight at 01:30. Another store that is like 100m from my home is run by Azeri family (I call them "abreks"), they don't have a strong spirits license at all, they have a curtain over a booze stand, but still sell it to anyone they know, like me. 5 bucks for excellent cedar-nut vodka. 3 bucks (US) for good white-head.

I'm moving back to russia.

Depends on how long and if you can tolerate an always-drunk host. But not until February: I'll have Mother visiting me here. Then i'll have to get sober and kick out all the tenants. Right now I have my Altai cousin's scientific "chief" here...
You can count on a week or two or three - more then enough to find a flat to rent.
Edit: I mean Mother plans to be here in February-March.

Everyone knows (tm) that vodka is the only diet drink. No fat, no carbohydrates, no proteins.
