Title: Been Flying non typical aircraft
Post by: Adonai on November 22, 2007, 11:27:02 PM
Ever since i switched my name, been gearing for perks flying the most unusal aircraft. Some ask why i go crazy getting perks its quite simple: I can fly entire tour on one aircraft and not worry bout perks running low.

Anyhow some non-typical aircraft ive been flying and had real success:

Mossy, P-40, Me-109g6, P-47-D40, Spit-5

Most these planes are flown VERY rarely dispite what people say, D40 is mostly used for ground attack, I prefer it over P47N because of the 5 eny.

If you wanta build perks quick and have a great high eny bird to do it, learn those planes.

Ive found the Mossi is quite able in a dogfight when it has 50% fuel loadout.    Good for ground attack too.

You'd be better off in the G-2 than the G-6. The G-6 sucks. (Well, not really, but its pretty much the worst of the 109 family. Doesnt do much of anything well.)

well G-6 only because of the 13mm gun upgrade over 7.9 i know that doesn't say alot, but a 20mm alone is practically useless, I believe getting right up on someone and tapping trigger G-6 has been quite successful, engine wise its a disappointment.

As for mossy, I only take small gun package and 50% fuel regardless how far I fly. Someone asked me tonight if they should add Drop tanks, I told em forget it, thats like flying from your farthest base to the enemies HQ and still have fuel to get home.

lol

205 is a great bird, and 202 but the Gas is extremely horrible, 202 engine power is just as bad as the gas

The D-40 is a great bird.  The dive flaps can come in handy.  But the D-25 and D-11 can also be very effective in the LW arenas.  Keep your E up and try to extend when you can to grab more alt.

Another great perk farmer is the 109F.  IMO it's the best turner of all the 109's.  Just set the 7.9 mm guns a little closer.  I find that the only real issue is that you end up with a lot of assists.  Stay on their 6 and make sure you finish them off before dis-engaging.

109G-2 kicks 109G-6 arse.
P-47D25 best used for dogfighting outta the jug set.
Try spit 9, then spit 5.

And I think that's exactly the reason  why Adonai wrote "non-typical" aircraft - he's deliberately flying planes that are usually not recommended that often and... ehhmm yes, not typical for LW MA.  ;)

Im dying to hear this.

And that's a worthwhile reason.  G6 takes a little more practice than the earlier 109s, but it's a great plane once you learn it, and the difference in guns, while not spectacular, is noticeable.

If you could drop a Hizooka in the 109, 1 20mm WOULD be amazing :).

I flew the Mossy and G-14 last night, Think G-14 (109) is little more suited for Main arena fighting, didn't use Taters and it performed beautiful. I did have quite a few good P40 turn fights as well, Im usually on Blue arena so prefer to test out my rides in tank town rather then large furball where you can't really judge a plane to well, least in TT you get various rides at random times coming through there.

If you want to perk horde best planes to do it in are the mossi and A8.

The G2 is a way better 109 then the G6. It turns better and its faster. The G6 may have 13mms but it only have 150 Mg151/20s. BTW that single 20mm is real good if you know how to use it.

Non-typical planes are the funnest. It's just so funny to hear them cry on 200 when you shoot their La-7 down in a P-40, or out  turn their Ki-(insert any varient) in a spit 1. :)

My hat's off to ya Adonai....

I fly non-typical aircraft as well.

Seems all I run into though are LA7, Spit 16, NiKi, Pony-D, LA7, Spit 16, NiKi, Pony-D, LA7, Spit 16, NiKi, Pony-D, LA7, Spit 16, NiKi, Pony-D, ad infinitum.

The 202 is a stall fighter and will eat most silly spittys alive... its perfect just as it is, you just don't know it.

Actually the C202 shouldn't eat any Spit for lunch... it has a much larger turning circle combined with poor acceleration, low top speed, and laughable firepower.

Want perks in a hurry? Fly the hurri 1

Like what I did there? :D

Seriously, get close enough and those 8 Brownings are lethal. Plus you can out-turn pretty much everything.

Look at the tables again, the G2 really is only marginally better using WEP, which is virtually always since WEP is one thing the 109s have lots of.

I did manage to take a 202 up last figure, figured wanted to work towards getting a kill rather then use taters and pop someone in first 5 seconds.

Needless to say it was a fun experience, shot down 5 before I finally got shot down on 2 sorties. I did manage to out turn a spit 16 3-4 times before he finally figured out what I was doing and decided to turn tables on me and play the fight his way using just his HP alone. Good fight imo

Oh yeah 202 vs P40 forget it, was a real nice 1vs1 but I pumped him with 90% my ammo load he still was flying.

spit9 is my favorite perk potato... plus it owns the spixteen and la7

Yeah it does, when I say non typical I would put Spit 9 in that bracket, funny because it does outclass a Spit 16 or La7 in hands of good stick, just dont burn your E

I find the mossie to be a fun ride.  I'd use the 110 if it had a bit more engine power tho.

Post by: Adonai on November 26, 2007, 04:18:44 AM
Want a real kick fly a 110-c4, with marginal power the G-2 has, and way weaker guns, Dont bother shooting the quad 7.9's almost useless

Oh and the pair of 20mm's are FF version, terrible!

Only reason Mossy is 25 eny not 40 is the 4 Hazookas.
Title: Been Flying non typical aircraft
Post by: Solar10 on November 26, 2007, 01:42:36 PM
The Mossie is my primary ride.  It is a way under rated plane.  I keep it fast but I am not afraid to turn fight in it.  Use the vertical and flaps to come over the top.

It is also a great GV killer.  4 500lbers = 4 dead gvs.

When the arenas first split I was flying in mid war as a bish and was horribly outnumbered.  One sortie I landed 6 kills for 54 perks and next sortie I landed 6 kills for 99 perks.

It's a nice perk farmer. :)
