Not surprising. The prof on the right finally shut the ex-prosecuter down when he started talking about the targettted neighborhoods being especially vulnerable to police abuse. She couldn't counter that without looking unfashionably conservative.

Ya know, I would've expected this in someplace like Oakland or South Central L.A. before Boston. You know, those' cities' being in Kommifornia and all.

On a sidenote, watch and see what kind of results' that the Boston P.D. turn up in their "search". If they net alot of illegal firearms, what will be the next step, based on the B.P.D.'s success (or lack of it?) Will it be implemented in other cities? Will any seizures' in Boston be thrown out of court based on constitutionality? Will this cause unrest in Boston? Stay tuned for the results.

(edit): You had to love the shot's of the gun show, with the racks of LEGAL firearms' put up there, as if the Boston P.D. is gonna find some kid with 20-30 assault weapons' in his closet. Makes you wonder which way FOX really swings.

nothing has changed, they still need a warrant for a search, unless they have permission from the property owner.

it's the same old thing about people being intimidated when the police say, "is it OK if we "look" around?"

When someone says "No", Probable cause can then be used to search anyway. What I want to see is if the B.P.D. goes that far.

BAD Idea.

First they use the, "bad neighborhood"  excuse.   Then they say.. "Oooohh look how great this is, we've arrested 1 person, lets make it mandatory to search everyone everywhere."

Now if the parents of the kids in these "bad neighborhoods" would just open the door to there kids room once in a while, there would be no reason for this to even be thought about.

yes.. I don't believe that it is too paranoid to think that this is merely a pilot program for something much bigger.   sorta.. "let's see if they will put up with this" kinda thing.

The enemies of the people and firearms rights are ever vigilant.. they try a new tactic every day...

Merely saying no does not provide probable cause or even reasonable suspicion.

PC isn't enough to enter a residence.

If the police knock looking for consent, and are told "no", they need both probable cause and "exigent circumstances" to force entry.

Otherwise they need to present their PC to a judge and secure a search warrant.

But this is really easy to get around.

Lets say I knock, and from my DRE training immediately notice the person who answers the door has blown out pupils and is displaying mannerisms consistent with being under the influence of a stimulant (controlled substance), plus I can smell the strong distinct odor of recently smoked illegal narcotics emitting from inside. My training & experience tells me its a area with high narco activity, I form the opinion there is illegal narco activity going on inside.

From that point on, a flushing toilet, sound of running water, or other noises indicating the possible destruction of evidence equals exigent circumstances.

Also the police are 100% allowed consensual contacts with the citizenry, when I used to eat a Dennys and chicks would talk to me, I didn't have to say "I cant talk to you with out PC"... a police officer can even walk up to you on the sidewalk and ask "How ya doin?". Narcs are infamous for that, they go into bars just to say "hello" and end up forming enough PC to search 1/2 the people there.

so that's why my mommy told me never to talk to strangers.

It's ok, its a spin-off from the Patriot Act thus, if you don't like it you are not a patriot :rofl

Homeland Defense Satellites can now peer through house roofs at night... its ok though, it’s authorized by a secret clause of the Patriot Act...

They usually keep footage of your bedroom antics only for private viewing by official NSA staff, visiting dignitaries, and the occasional janitor... but don't be surprised if they show up on YouTube if you criticize the Patriot Act or the Administration.
