I've finally upgraded my machine and have a set-up that will allow me to properly work on skins.
I've decided to start with this 109K flown by Martin Deskau in 1945.

If anyone has any other photos of this aircraft in their collection (I have an artist's profile and a photo of the aircraft in a book I recently bought) I would greatly appreciate anything in the way of scans, links or the names of books so that I can purchase them. Any additional visual aids can only help with the accuracy of the skin.
I also welcome all critcism and suggestions as this is my first skin and obviously have much to learn.
Thanks in advance.

Archaius

Already in the game.

Not sure what the policy on that is so you might want to check before you put too much time into it.

I think HTC have added a few skins that double up...
I know that Krusty and NrRaven have boh done a 190 A5 of the same scheme with differing colours.
Thanks for the heads up though, Hammer. I will email HTC to see what their view on the matter is.
I also just remembered that my colours are custom jobs that were created to best match the profiles and images I have. I will refer them back to the skinner's RLM pages that I have somewhere now that I am back online after the move.
Although I wouldn't go so far as saying what Fester has about NrRaven's skins, as I do not like to criticise other's work, I do believe that there is room for another interpretation of the work that he has done using colours that more closely reflect those used by the Luftwaffe.
Hopefully HTC will agree that there is indeed room for mine as I've come far enough on it to want to finish it anyway.
I didn't realise that it was already in the game, unfortunately.
Also, I believe that there is a shortage of K4 skins and any addition (given that it is of acceptable quality and accuracy) should be a welcome one.
Cheers

archaius just give it a go and bump that glow in the dark abomination out of the game.
your skin with decent colors and no lines or shading or weathering already is an improvement over the current one in game.
as for my 109k4 it is on the shelf for the time being.

When submitted I asked if they could be there side by side. I didn't want to step on any toes, and initially thought it was just a different interpretation. It's just one I don't want to use, ever. Also the camo pattern is fictional. If they ever want to remove his and use mine as the only one, that's their call. At the time I was trying to be nice, is my only explanation.

Little bit more progress...
I've changed the colours a little. Do they seem more appropriate? I think a little closer.

Any other input is appreciated.

weather the plane a litle the colors are a litle to bright and the change are to suden
-
Most definitely, I have done no weathering or colour blending at all yet.
I wanted a few more opinions before I started there, as I was planning on using a few different variations on the final colours to aid in a washed out/thinned out look.
-
I should feather those colors lines a tad more bith the brush tool.

i like them glow in the dark k4 skins...makes my 109 look like it has window tints :D....how could you not be seduced by the sexiest plane with window tints :lol

Slight update.
I've been busy with work as Christmas is approaching and all.... I work in the liquor industry.... everyone needs to get pissed at xmas... so all hands on deck.
Anyway....

I've still not blended the camo lines properly yet.... I'm having trouble with getting the blend just right... it's either too stark or too hazy. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
If any of the colour segments look haphazard... call it out but keep in mind that the photo I have of this aircraft shows some very stark contrasts particularly where the super charger intake is concerned. The actual aircraft had a green intake with all grey panels around it.

I think those grey tints over the wings and the upper fuselages needs to be a little more purple, and the grey on the lower fuselage more light blue.
Keep us updated on your work! :)

I would suggest, when doing a skin, that you complete all the panel lines first. Do these with light grey or white solid colors covering the entirety of the plane's wings and fuselage (etc) so that you can see where there are problems.
Then I would strongly suggest you do BOTH sides of the plane at the same time. Don't just do the left side wing and fuselage, because then when you go to line the two up you're backpedalling quite a bit to get it to look as a single continuous pattern.
