Title: Vulcan 607

Just finished reading Vulcan 607 by Rowland White - its an excellent book and highly recommended to all aviation buffs.

It tells the story of the first British Vulcan bomber raid on the Falkland islands during the 1982 conflict. It took 15 tankers and 17 in-flight refuelings to get a single 25 year old bomber over target and I believe it remains- at 8000 miles - the longest range bombing attack ever attempted.

When you read about the lack of modern guidance systems and counter measures, what those guys did was incredible.

I thought that one of the B-2 raids in the Iraq War had that range beat (Whiteman AFB in Missouri to Iraq).
