Ok I downloaded some file's to look at my computers and other in house Password's and such. A day after this I started to get random Pop-ups of all Sorts. I woke up today and had 200 Open internet Explores. I have no idea what to do tried everything. Can I get some help? I think it may be virus because now this pop is acting like Nortan Anti-virus but i have no clue if it is. Might be new update to afraid to click on it.
-
I had something similar a few years ago. Webroot's SpySweeper got rid of it,but coss money. Try to download the free edition of AVG it is what the guy who fixes my computers uses. I will try to post a link to where you can get it later today.

You downloaded what?
-
First off, use Firefox!
Second, sounds like its reformat reinstall time unless you are very good or very lucky at bug removal.
Third, if you go to the russian hack sites, your going to get hacked.
Be careful what you mess with.
-
This is what happens when you have a kid behind the keyboard.
-
Nah. At his age I wasn't stupid enough to click Yes on silly password-spying program pop-ups. This is more a matter of incompetence.
-
Agree
-
What Cbass said, get Spysweeper it costs but its worth it about $26 i think, also get HiJack This, its might still be free. If you still have problems after that you can also get Spyware Nuker, it costs about $30 i think

Well.....he said he wanted to learn how to hack.
He`s getting on the job training and free samples.
What more could you ask for?

You guys better stop teasing him, he's a manly football player and not an intardnet geek like we are. I certainly wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley.

(Free)

(Free for 30 days, and you should try it)
CounterSpy (http://www.download.com/3000-8022_4-10705277.html)
Anti-Virus
AVG Free Edition (http://www.download.com/3000-2239_4-10761481.html)

(online scan)
Kaspersky (http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner)
I suggest HiJack This (be carefull w/ that one, when in doubt, google it and see what it is you are turning off), SpyBot, AdAware, and CounterSpy for spyware, and AVG and the Kaspersky online scan for a virus.
That will get rid of most all problems.
(and whatever you do, don't keep them all running as a background process/service when you fly)

You did what?
Forget the spyware cleaners and all of the other crap. Format and reinstall windows. Why? Because it's faster than running a bunch of virus scanners/cleaners. You gave yourself not only spyware but most likely some virus/trojans/backdoors as well.
Enjoy
Edit : Also after you reinstall windows use different usdrnames/passwords for your computer and change all of your passwords for email, games, bank, and whatever else you have accessed on that computer.
-
uglyness fur shure ....
if you know what your doing safemode , hijack this ,and a good AV/spyware program will get ya thru it ... but as others have said "Reformat" is probely faster .
the online scanners can tell you what you have but they cant get ride of them because there running in the background hense the use of safemode.

-
It's pretty bad.
-
I know it's sad but it's hard not to laugh. He probably can't even navigate to get to a spyware/adware/virus scanner now.
-
No i can and yeah i didn't download pop-up to find passwords but i'm not sure if thats the reason for the pop-ups. I'll try Hijack this
thank you
-
That is what happens when you spend time on the porn sights looking at and downloading the free samples, or so I am told. :rofl

I did not Click on a Pop-Up to download a password cracker program. I googled it which should of probably not of done. I just been interested in Computers and been trying to find out new things. And yes once in awhile i look at porn hey just admitting it may help with figuring out whats wrong
-
Download and run Spybot S&D, it's free and effective.
If this fails to fix the problem entirely then restore to an earlier date. I also suggest changing all passwords.
-
Alright will do
thanks for the help
-
Unplug your Internet connection ASAP.
If you can, burn your My Documents folder, pictures, etc onto CDs or DVDs, Be sure to scan these before running the disks in your fixed PC or any other PC.
-
I'm running Scan with Spy bot S&D. Once i do this if it destroys the problem it'll be fine. If not I'm going to unplug internet save files and reboot system from the day when i got computer

Spybot S&D is great, but they don't update it often. I'd try some other ones mentioned above before giving up. AdAware also is very good and free.
-
yeah Spy Bot seems like its working, haven't got any pop-ups. This started one night ago and i came back from school and had 200 internet explores opened. I'm using and only using Firefox now.
-
This is usually the point in the thread where Skuzzy shows up and says something like "Well, Internet Explorer is perfectly safe if you use it properly" followed by a comment about Firefox that's vaguely disapproving.
;)
-
Well i haven't seen Skuzzy in a while. Has anyone else? But anyways Pop-ups stopped and just a little slower
-
Just because the popups are gone doesnt mean you got rid of all the infection... use HiJack This, read well before you run it, check out whats loaded and make sure you understand what something is before you delete it
-
I'm using Spybot and removed the problems
-
Use this free service from Trend Micro. It's very good at virus, trojans and some spyware.

Well, removed some of the obvious symptoms at least. Until you reformat, you could still have a quiet infection.
-
Reformat, kid.
-

Except for the kiddie porn server still running in the background, the email spam sending program that installed itself as a system service, and the DDOS client pinging an IRC server every hour waiting for instructions.
Other than that, you're golden :)
-
okay, pay attention.
Here's what you need to do:
Unplug your entire computer and monitor. Take them down to the bus stop and smash them into little tiny pieces on the sidewalk (better do this step in the dark though).
Go home and tell your parents that you were mugged by two large vacationing Hawaiians (sp?) in flowery shirts carrying pointy pineapples, and that you couldn't get your knife out of your butt crack in time to stop them.
Have your girlfriend apply some of her warpaint to the area around your right eye and take a picture (make sure you squint).
Now, once you get your parents to release you from your grounding (somewhere around when you are 30 I would imagine), get a new computer and STOP SURFING PORN!
hope this helps.

Find the originial packaging for your computer. Put the CPU, Monitor, keyboard, mouse and other assorted things back in their boxes.
Take those boxes back to where you purchased them.
Politely ask for a refund.
When they ask you the reason for the return, look them straight in the eye and tell them ....
"I'm too stupid to use a computer. I'm going to use this money to get a see-and-say first, and them work my way up to a View-Finder next christmas."

To stupid to use a computer? I'm just asking what might be the reason for the pop-ups I know how to fix the problem. I'm not a dumb bellybutton with science, and technology. Just asked a simple question thats all. I got my answer computer is now fine. WMlute
thanks for the help and yes Spy bot worked fine. And no I will not smash my computer its the best piece of technology. I'm surprised half you older guy's know how to use one. Well exceptions 35 and under because you guys that young have some idea of what your doing. And I'm 14, whats this thing with Kiddie Porn? Hey sometimes take a peak at some stuff but i have a life, friends, and a girlfriend. Don't need porn to see naked girl. So thank you very much for assuming I'm a porn addicted loser teenager. Nothing else to say Good Bye

Funniest post so far in this thread.
-
Hey I've seen some adults have no clue what a computer is. You know what surprises me the WW2 veterans knowing how to play. But anyways might of taken that a little to far because lot of programmers are old guys. I'm just glad to be 14 years old, because i haven't been through lot to say that life completely sucks like some people have.
-
pssst Raider...
They were just kidding. Pulling your leg. Poking a little fun at your misfortune because millions of people have the same problem you had, except many (most?) of them have that problem because they're visiting shady websites looking for porn.
Still, although you say your computer is completely fixed, you should watch it closely for unusual network usage and other strange behavior like your hard drive filling up for no reason. Because very often computers that act like yours did will have more than one malicious program installed. The one you noticed was popups, but there may be something worse hidden that you'll never see until the FBI shows up and finds child porn on your computer.
I'm NOT kidding or making fun of you.
