Well I enjoyed night fights but I know quite a number of you didn't so I'll let that one sit.
So instead of night, what about the weather fronts we used to content with? The lower visibility, appearance of rain in the distance, and more importantly a thick overcast sky. Would this be something worth putting resources towards bringing back? Just seems like it would open up many tactical possibilities as it did in AH1. The big thing to remember is that, unlike night, the storm would not take up the whole map and instead only a couple sectors allowing it to be easily avoided for those deathly afraid of clouds.

Yes! weather was a real factor that had to be dealt with during war; bring it on.
-
Keep in mind the players with older computers using older graphx cards.
-
Sounds interesting...
-
the most "immersion" i get in AH is dogfighting in low-lying cloud, hit the wispy stuff and all of a sudden its real! So more weather please. :aok
Also permanent clear blue skies are great for a beach holiday but get a bit boring to look at in AH, same with the terrain - surely theres no performance hit to have different sky/terrains tied to each map like in scenarios? eg. desert/snow/forest/farmland etc tied to sky and weather.

yes... he probably works for HP or Dell!:lol

You can upgrade to a really decent machine for next to nothing now-a-days.
-
Some people have next to nothing, thanks.
I believe HTC tried to put in a dynamic weather system and it crashed the server upon map reset.
-
Or what about dynamic terrain? As I was clearing the peak of a 24,000 ft mountain last night, it really seemed like it needed some snow. Instead, it had the same fields, trees, and bushes as the flatlands below it.
All in all, though, weather would get my vote too. It's lack has always been an issue in flight sims, but we're to the point where it should be considered with today's systems.

well they need to keep in mind http://www.newegg.com and get with the times already.
:p

i think weather in this game would really kick it up a notch, the whole snowing, raining, fog, would be so great, would make it way more realistic and would add great cover for missions and stuff, the problem is, it will probably contribute to ALOT of lagg, mainly the rain and snow

Two Words....Credit Cards...get you anything you want!
just kidding, don't fall into that void. I'm still trying to crawl my way out.
Seriously though, like wingnutt sad, newegg has really good deals if you look under "clearance" and "open box" sections. If you are running a machine that can't handle weather in AH, $100 worth of upgrades from newegg can really make a difference.

Exactly the issue.
-
just for giggles I went to newegg and spent .. maybe 5 miniutes and found the necessary upgrades to run AH2 beyond maxxed out for under $200..
I cant understand how people have spent... however many x hundreds of dollars on this game via subscription fees.. but havent bothered to upgrade their rig to see what this game can REALLY look like.
-
I do have a rig that will run the game at full settings thats 4 years old. I'd love to get a new system for other games. I'm finding it's much easier to pump $15 a month instead of $1,100 once.
-
Yes!!!! Bring back the rainy weather and thick clouds.
-
How about specific sections of the map, designated to certain types of weather. Heavy clouds, Rain, Fog, Snow, Night, Fronts. That way people with older machines would not be forced to put up with it. And people who would like could go into these specific areas.
-
We really need weather and night time. I vote for both! We miss them in bombing missions!
Go DICKWEEDS !:D

Games have to move forward in some direction some time. As you might lose more player base, you have the potential to gain new and more player based depending on game graphics. Graphics aren't everything, but when I'm reading about or watching something on a new upcoming game, you're going to see the graphics first (as you can't experience the gameplay yet), reaching a new audience. But I'll cut this short as this bee hive has been rattled many a times in the past.

Yeah. Bad weather grounded aircraft and cancelled missions.
Sounds fun. Not.

Could someone please post some pics or film of the realistic weather we're supposed to have had in AH1? I only saw clouds and fog, but I didn't start until tour 23, so maybe there was rain in beta.

Wow! It's still funny to use quotes from Borat. Not.

There wasn't. There were only those dark, heavily clouded storm fronts in AHI.
-
Yeah I wasn't suggesting to develop this whole new weather system with rain streaming off windscreen and snow collecting on the runways, just the fairly simple system we had in AH1.
-
The usual explanation is that aircraft wouldn't be up in bad weather. Weather is dynamic in real life, though.
-
An old flight instructor told me once, that in peacetime nobody has to fly in bad weather.
Having said that, weather was often used as a cover for missions, for both side. Unfortunately many pilots on both sides paid for it too with their lives.
I'd like to see more dynamic weather. It's more of a challenge.:aok
