Title: 8 Player Version
Post by: teeder44 on November 28, 2007, 08:35:56 PM
Hi,

Is the 8 player version supposed to still work?  According to "Getting Started" it is.

If it is supposed to be working, can somebody point me to a doc/post that would explain what ports need to be opened, etc. if it's not working?

Free Online Multiplayer doesn't work anymore because it was shut down.

It's gone, forever. Saying "Abusing the game" fits well. Pay 15$'s to play or do not play at all. I would say more, but I will not, because Skuzzy will kill me.....

Regards,
Subway

This, of course, is not the message that should be sent. The adage "If you can't say anything nice.....", applies here Subway.

teeder44,

Subway posted one thing correct; HTC shut down the Head to Head -or- Free Multi-player rooms due to some issues that required them to step in.

8 player free LAN play is still available as well as the offline mode.

There is the 2 week free trial that you can sign up for to see if you would like to subscribe to the Main Arenas. Otherwise, it is $14.99 per month to sign up for online play. You can pay by credit card via the in-game sign up or you can request a cash payment form from HTC by emailing billing@hitechcreations.com. They will be happy to help you.

Good Luck and I hope to see you in game!

"....8 player free LAN play is still available...".

Sorry for my confusion, there are so many modes.  To be clear, if a buddy and I are on an isolated LAN and I select 8 Player then Create LAN Host while he selects 8 Player then Select LAN Game, he should see my LAN Host and be able to connect to me correct?

Right now, he cannot see anything under Arena when he clicks Select LAN Game.  I suspect it is a firewall issue on one of our PCs.

8 Player over the Internet has been removed from the game.  Only the 8 Player LAN play is available.  LAN = local arena network.  Only computers on the local area network can play against each other.

Thanks Skuzzy.  I disabled the PC firewall completely and got it working.

Is there a document or link that explains all of the arena settings for 8 player?

The join commands don't seem to work in 8 player and I thought maybe it was disabled in arena settings but it doesn't seem to be.  I'm trying to join the other player as a gunner in a bomber.

teeder,

Click HERE (http://flyaceshigh.com/ahhelp/index.html) and it will take you to the help section. On the left, scroll all the way down to "Configuring and Arena". Under "Arena Settings" you will find what the settings mean and how to manipulate them. From my experience setting up the Special Events Arena, the join command is universal, meaning it works in all arenas the same way.

.join ID --- This will send the message to the ID you choose to join

.accept ID --- This is the command they must enter into the text buffer in order to allow you to join.

.showjoin0 --- Allows for your incoming join requests to be displayed in the text buffer
ie: SYSTEM: REP0MAN wishes to join you. Type .accept ID to allow

.showjoin1 --- Allows for your incoming join requests to be displayed as a pop up window. The window will give you a choice to accept or deny. Warning: This pop up window will block your view and can reek havoc on survivability in the heat of the fight :)

Look through those Configuration settings. There is a ton of cool things you can do.

Hi Repoman,

I've tried everything and still no go.  I've tried both .showjoin commands, tried joining with .join command and through Roster.  On the "joiner", the text buffer says "Your join request has been sent" but nothing is displayed on the other player's screen in text or with a popup.

A few things...one player is the Hoster of the 8 player LAN host, is this an issue?  The "joiner" is in the tower while the other player is on the runway.  Text radio communications work fine.  I've tried the dot commands using radio 1 ALL and radio 2 Country.  Other dot commands such as .move work fine.

Any ideas?

While searching for a fix to join problem in 8 player LAN version, found a thread that seems to indicate join did not work in H2H.  Has anybody confirmed it works in LAN version?  The Help section says it should but it would be nice if somebody could test and confirm this.

Got it.

Like H2H, join requests are not shown in LAN version, even if you enable them with .showjoin.  Instead, after you send a join request, the other player has to type .accept .  You will then be attached.
