Hi all.
If this is a bug, then please move it to that forum.
This has happened a couple of times.
In an A6M5, taking off with auto-takeoff. CV is turning, which messes up the takeoff roll. I disengage autotakeoff and try to stop, but the plane will not stop no matter what. It rolls backwards very slowly. Ultimately, there is no way to takeoff or stop and .ef out because the plane won't stop moving even with engine off and brakes applied. I tried rolling over the arresting wires backwards with hook down with no joy.
Tonight I landed a seafire on the CV. Got the trap. Orange weapons loading popped up and kept popping up. Plane would not stop rolling even with breaks on. I tried to .ef about 3 times with no luck. Gave a nub of throttle to try to even out the backward rolling and the CV took off from under me- looked like I rolled backward at 30 mph.
In all cases this led to a death.
I don't know what I could have done differently, especially on landing. It was a normal landing, just couldn't stop long enough to .ef out.
Please let this be a bug, because it was incredibly frustrating. 5 of my deaths this tour are from this, which is frustrating.

Try feathering the prop when you are on the cv using + and - on the keypad. I usually do this to get a little more room with heavier loads, completely killing the engine should prevent it from rolling though. Full throttle with prop feathered makes you (or used to make you) go backwards for the reason above.

There is a bug in reversing over the wires with the hook down. They simply use a different version of the hit-detection that occurs when you crash. In short, this means that if you put backward force into them, they'll magnify it exponentially as you slide back until you're catapulted off.
For a treat, load an F4U with rockets only. Salvo them all with the tiny delay. Go into External view, put the hook down, and throtle up slightly until it throws you backward. Once you've got up a decent amount of backward speed, fire the rockets.

Recalibrate..... your throttle is not throttling all the way down.
-
Like Shuffler said, your throttle may not be all the way down. There is a "trick " for lack of a better word for backing your plane up. You hold the brake and give it just a touch of throttle, your plane will back up. Usefull if you have, say a heavy hog and want a little extra take off room.

Ok, the catapult backward thing makes sense now- that's precisely what happened last night.
I should have killed the engine completely. I'm pretty sure that happened on one of my zero sorties- I kept rolling even with the engine off, but I can't be sure. I kept thinking the wind over the deck was 'pushing' my plane backwards even with the engine off. I'm pretty sure I even raised flaps to check.
I'll recalibrate the throttle, but I don't think that's it. I can come to a complete stop on the runway, just not on the boat. It's worth a try though. Not sure why forward throttle would cause slow backward motion though unless the prop wash is hitting the flaps and pushing the plane backwards.

Ok, I'll check the throttle. That sounds like the problem.
I could have sworn this happened with the engine off too, but now I can't be sure.

WTF, over?
Turns out my throttle was indeed out of calibration. I had a minimal amount of input, even at idle.
I guess that was it. If I have the problem again, I'll resurrect the thread.
Thanks for the help.
Toonces out.

Toonces, if I remember this correctly, opening the throttle just a little bit unlocks the breaks, at which point the wind over the deck will push you backwards slowly.

Breaks wheel aren't applied without the button pressed. However, the initial amount of energy to get the aircraft past its sit-still inertia is kind of an on/off thing in this game.
