Have a 30 amp 12 VDC power suppy sitting here. It has been on for about 6 hours now, the lower front panel is running around 150 degrees or higher. Cant touch it for more then a second at the bottom without pulling your hand away in pain.

This still safe or should it be junked?

Buy a new power supply or more band~aids.

I would go with the first...

if it has that "Burnt " smell its a done puppy.

The heatsinks in it can get and will be "hot" to the touch ,but the rest should be cool (Room temp)
-
Doesnt have any burnt smell to it, just gets unusually hot.

Actually its been like that for the past 10 years, gets very hot to the touch. Just irritates me as to why it would be so unusually hot. But no odors, magic smoke, or hot AC cord.

				Do your fingers smell like.......

150 degrees and you can't stand more than a second?

A real man could go 5 to 6 seconds easy.

What does that have to do with a power supply

For the temp I actually measured it this time, the PS is running close to 190 degrees.

It aint burnt after 10 years, so I guess I will keep it
