I know that this is my first post in the forums, but please don't dismiss this with 'Squeaker!!!!' etc
I think that a valuable addition to the MA would be the PBY Catalina - Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PBY_Catalina).
So far, there aren't any amphibious aircraft in the game, and I think one would be an excellent new plane.

Catalinas might be an excellent complement to the PT boat, and be able to carry more ordinance, but greater distances at not much higher speeds. Also, unlike the B-29 idea, this would not need to be perked, as its low speed would make it easy to be intercepted, but would also make it difficult for fighters not to overshoot.
Also, to help its advantages at low altitude, perhaps HTC could make the icon be very hard to see when the plane's at or near ground level. In my opinion such an aircraft would be spawned from ports, airfields, and CVs. Also, having a long range patrol craft would make it easier to scout around CVs and bases. Also, it might be a useful (and more versatile)resupply plane in addition to the C-47
Finally, I know that without having submarines (and almost non existent nights) in AH some ppl will think that a PBY would have really limited usefulness, however I think its value as a difficult to detect scout, as well as its history, would make it popular definitely in the Early and Mid War arenas, but also in the Late war arena.

Ok, I've read several of the Catalina posts. Sparow's post (http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=212623&highlight=Catalina) especially made the point clear.
However, I still think a PBY would be cool.

All the flying boats would be cool, I think. It'd be a neat direction for the game to go. YMMV

Rufes, H8KS, PBYs, Sunderlands would all be a nice addition but there are stuff we need more. (he-111, Yak 1,3,&7, Tu-2, Pe-2, Ju-52, Mig 3, B-29 with perks equal to Me 262 w/ no N00K, SM-81, G. 55, Brewster Buffalo, Ki-100, G4M3, I don't want to go on)

Ive wanted to see the PBY for a while. Doubt it will ever happen but it would be nice to dream.

A water launched and landed AC would be a great addition to AH. Don't particularly care which country it's from. I'll leave that one to the specification experts out there. See ya up there!

I agree with both lines of thought. I'd love to see a flying boat, and at the same time there are numerous warplanes we probably need more, "Im not even going to mention the B-29, TU-2, and A-26".:D

The H8K2 had a defensive armament of five 20mm cannons, some 7.7mm machine guns (including two in a ventral position), had fully protected fuel systems, engines and crew armor and could carry eight 250kg bombs, two 1,500kg bombs or two torpedoes.

Come on, who out there in flight sim land wouldn't love to be able to up a "black cat" from a port, go scouting long range for a carrier fleet? Or go blow up some supply barges?
Heck Yes we want the PBY, right along with the H8k, the short sunderland, and all the other historic flying boats.
BTW just landing the PBY undamaged after a 1 hour patrol should be worth MANY MANY perk points. :)

I like it, but it would have to have some feature for distance flown, and maximum distance flown away from takeoff point etc

Im for all the above. a few other eliments that could be added...
Re-supply cv or pt's from orgin port.
Base supplies / ground supplies.
Throw in the mix of base capture by carrying 5 troops. (2 sea planes waiting off shore for the green light)
This would quickly become a favorite to a lot of players.

yep very nice plane slow but guns make up for that and a cv plane has nice ord pack too so bring it in!

This would be a nice addition. Radar would be able to be seen by all friendlies. Would be a mobile radar station. Would make a valuable plane.

would it be launched from the vehicle hanger at a port, or would there have to be a new aircraft one?
Also, would you be able ot launch the PBY from a CV?
I'm all for these ideas so far!
