My old man went through it 6 years ago.  Tough times, but have faith and he'll be brand new when he comes out of it.  You'll be amazed how quick they get him up and about after.  1 night in the hospital and they send you home.  Amazing how much things have advanced.

Brian

I pray that God will give the surgical team the wisdom to carry out the procedure as needed and God will give your father the strength to pull through it. I also pray for your family to be strong and come together in his time of need.

As your Dad gets through this ordeal, i pray you will continue to seek the lord not only in time of crisis, but in your everyday walk of life.

Not that getting heart surgery is any small thing but like I said they are pretty good at that stuff anymore.I was in the Hospital for a week then I went home.I had to stay home for 3 months. Now I was 28 at the time your Father is prolly a bit older than that and may take a bit more time to recover. If ya have any questions feel free to PM me if ya think I may be able to help.Try to keep positive.Ill keep your Father in my thoughts.Keep us posted.

BiPoLaR, my dad had triple bypass surgery back in 1987. All went well despite a weakened heart from two heart attacks. It bought him 10 more years.

Since then, the techniques used have improved dramatically, with current methods being far less invasive and physically demanding. Some hospitals use a method where they don't even stop the heart.

Bypass surgery is considered routine these days. Nonetheless, it's a very scary prospect for patient and family.

I will keep your dad in my thoughts and prayers, confident that all will go well and you'll have him home to celebrate Christmas.

Best wishes,

Widewing

Fear not, bypass surgery nowadays is nearly an outpatient procedure, it's so common (Well, mebbe exaggerating  a LITTLE bit, but you get the idea) I'll toss in a prayer as well, just to be on the safe side
