I know we all wanna see it, but...It's kinda like customers' yelling and screaming for the next Generation Corvette-we aren't the engineers' and people building it, we've never worked or designed one, we just wait and sob at the dealership door.

If I had experience writing software and developing and marketing a game, I'd feel more like someone who might legitemately complain. But I'm not. So, I say we continue to wait patiently...unless, of course, you could build it yourself?

With any type of game or software or anything really that is in production for a period of time (assuming their is a fan base following development), questions and comments like these are expected.  When there is no news post or updates on the development, people start to talk.

And there is not way around it.  There could be several reasons why HTC does not release a lot of details to the public.  Could be fear of ideas stolen from other games companies.  Or that there are development delays etc.  A lot of which is mum outside the programmers.

If it comes out and it SUCKS, it is the end of the company (Warbirds 3?) They aren't gonna release it early and have their company dissed in every gaming forum on the internet

From Sudz in the "COMBAT TOUR" Forum.

 Update: Sept 20, 2007

Whew. Now that we've finished with the update and subsequent CTD crushing, we're back to concentrating on Combat Tour.

All the major systems are in place (i.e. AI, promotions/demotions, character attribute point effects, scoring, medal awarding, etc) so we're now onto polishing, refining, and debugging them.

Pyro is currently designing detailed training missions that include voice instructions, graphic pointers, cue cards for non-english speakers (but can read more easily), and HUD feedback among other effects. You'd be surprised at how hard it is to do a proper landing.

I'm currently putting together regular-play missions. These include graphic maps of the country and the routes to be taken, voice instructions from the Operations Officer, and in-flight directions from HQ. Hint: better make sure you keep an eye on your fuel consumption.

Superfly is working on more varied targets than you see in the MA like sub-pens and dams. Also, the terrain is being populated with the actual cities found on the continent. This, in turn, allows us to design more and varied missions with interesting objectives.

As we progress all of us are having to refine code and art. We will be running the alpha testers through the missions as we create them and using their feedback to make sure we put out only engaging, white-knuckled and fun missions.

- Sudz

PS Please God, don't make me read a 'when' question.

Probably not.  I think he'd have a hard time sticking his foot in his mouth considering where he's got his head stuck up in.

Fulmar,
You are probably right. Very small team, complex code and all that jazz...

Waffle,
The update writings are nice but how about some pictures or even videos?

Guys, ya gotta stay away from that stinkbait!  I personally don't care if it takes 3 or more years for CT to arrive.  Look at how long MickySloth took with Vista with hundreds of programmers and support staff and it was released without most of the often touted features.  Vista is the worst piece of crap to be forced on the computer population since winblows first arrived.  This post has gotta be a troll.

Well anyways, IN.................. clock is ticking until the lockdown.

All the Best...

With the tone set by a lot of people posting about CT and the time involved, it's a wonder HTC develops anything. Instant gratification just doesn't happen, not with anything REALLY worthwhile anyway.

did anyone sign a thing saying you will pay subscription for CT by certain date?

i think not.
you pay for the game they give, just because they let us know about their long term goals some choose to punish HTC for not giving us MORE than what we paid for when we signed up.
the sub fee was not agreed on by the customer on the premis of CT being included by certain date.

Lol, wonder where that dude is now.  My unit was 1/2 mile away when that guy gave his last speech saying "There are no Americans in Baghdad".:lol

Hijack over.

As for CT, does HTC take Social Security checks?  By the time it comes out, that's all I'll have left to give em!:lol (and I'm only 31)
