My question is this:
I search for GV action and any sitiuation I can warrant using an Il-2 in no matter where the battle may be, but I will still up more of my missions against the Bishops than the Knights.
Perhaps this is a natural result of having flown for Bish for 2 years before taking the king's shilling's when the Rookland press gang caught me in a dimly lit, waterside pub one night.
What country to you most often fly against in the Arena and why?
-
Rooks. Most challenging and fun.
-
Both. I go where the fight is.

Subway

I don't pick on one country more than the other, but I do go after the La's and zekes first when entering a fight. La's are the very fast, very maneuverable, very annoying planes that I really want dead, and zekes are just pointless to try and turn fight against them, so I hit-and-run on them.

I try to stay from the rooke hord and fight nits:aok

Nits horde just as much or IMO more than rooks. I used to swap countries more than I do now and it seemed whenever I flew on nits if there were 2 fronts to fight.,Well 90% of them would be hording at one end of the map. Then a few suckers would be trying to defend the other side and would get hung out to dry by the other nits enjoying their horde.

Funny how some flame others, but have atrocious spelling to "highlight their ineptness" even more.

Anyone dumb enough to let me kill them. :)

It's always fun to GV hunting, no matter what side you're on... especially when you can switch from attack to fighter mode.
Therefore, the F4U-1D is the ride of choice. If the Spitfire IX had all 3 hardpoints, I'd fly that as there's no way in heck I'm hopping in one of those Spixteens... ugly lot they are.

Twice a month I go Wabbit hunting

Generally I'm on a mission or other goal oriented task (what a novel idea!) but when im having "me" time I tend to skirt furballs/"horde" areas for 1v1 action or go buff hunting when i see suspicious dar bar.

Hardly novel. My missions are ALWAYS goal oriented. My goal is usually to find a great horde of dweebs all looking the other way.....then, I wack 'em all with a boat paddle!!!! Now THAT'S a goal. :)

My public affirmation of detest is thus :-
Bishops because 1) Their the most gamey. 2) The least skilled. 3) Mostly work in numbers / hoards 4) They would rather GV than fly (see 2) 5) The most timid 6) Lack vet moral leadership (see 1) 7) With a few exception haven't got a tactical clue:rolleyes:
Having said that, left to their own devises, they will sweep across the board. To me Bishops, more often than not are like snowmen. When things get hot they MELT away.
Knight on the other hand could be a force to be reckoned with now that their numbers are slowly picking up..... look forward to it to :aok.

The biggest enemy darbar
-
I hunt the buffs :D ... but anything goes if none can be found.
I usually go after the larger enemy and go where they are most numerous.. unless they are at final vulch and capture stages at one of our bases.
If both enemies (bishes and knits) are about equal and dar bars present no particular opportunity, it depends on my mood.
When I am more lazy, I go after bishes. The knits have usually offered more challenges... likely not true at all, but I have allowed such prejudice to build up during past years, cannot help it ;) ...thus it also hurts equally more to get shot down by them :)
-
I try to avoid being shot down by anything with a red icon. Every now and then, a plane flies in font of me and I get to shoot something down. It's a pretty basic concept. :D

I hunt chutes.

Always hunting Nits & Bish! Just hope they are a worst stick than me when I engage. Most of the time, I'm DEAD wrong...go down in flames - very depressing. I'm always up for a GV battle - gotten to know a lot of good people while driving around. The good old days of chasing 2BAD around TT, between the buildings, taking point blank shots. Or, like the other night, hunting BritCH in the trees - good times :aok

I like fighting alpha81 and his gang lately. they offer great challenge because I come in at around 8-10k and they are always at least 5k higher and in the ack, often supported by the hired guns crew. some days I do well others I don't but it's a good challenging fight and it's helped me hone my turnfighting abilities in the 190A5.

>>>Our squad works in small numbers AWAY from the "Hoards" Lynx. On Saturday SoonerMP and myself took 4 vbases (LW Orange) in 30 minutes without any help. This took pressure off the front line effort and got about 30 Knights to abandon their attacks on our home island and defend. <<<

>>>If the 2week free newbies didn't default to the bish, YOU would have to deal with some of the unique issues that we deal with daily... for example on country yesterday I read " how do you fire your guns".
We fought at V85/88 for 5 hours yesterday with a very determined rook defense neither side "melted away". Come over and fly with us some evening and you'll see that Our leadership is not lacking... Fly one of Falcon23's NOE missions or one of thndreggs massive Buff or jugg missions and you'll see that the Bishops are no different than the Knights and alot better guys than the Rooks. <<<
Knight on the other hand could be a force to be reckoned with now that their numbers are slowly picking up..... look forward to it to :aok.
I hunt LYNX because he is the most pompous player in the game, and is the poster child for the I'm right/you're wrong mindset.
If he's not available I fight rooks, mostly because they are the least courtious players as a rule (with some notable exceptions like the A8s and AAOlds) and do things like shoot bailed pilots.
Also they wouldn't keep Cmustard... I will never forgive them for THAT!!!
-
I don't really hunt anyone. But ocassionally I hit Rondar or wonder (by luck), and I really dig that, and hope their vh is up so they can come back out.

There is no default country for new players. All countries get their share of "How to fly?"
Back on topic, I only look for a red icon to shoot / bomb. Often I don't even know which enemy country I just fought against.
-
I like to hunt the planes with the red icons.
-
I dont hunt him, so to speak..but i like to know where Lynx is operating,
because he is a "Chess" player as far as the way he plays this game.
Its fun to compete against that sort of player.
I like hunting/fighting friendly rivals, that go years back to the 90's in warbirds
We will be hunting another squad later tonight, but im not gonna show my cards :D
Its hard to hunt anyone, but somtimes I will try to hunt someone whos poping off on chn 200.
-
i like all that is AH but i must say that one of my favorite things to do is buff hunt especially now that they burn so pretty :t
-
The last guy that killed me. I always fly Nit due to my squad so I spend about equal time fighting Bish & Rook. I don't see much difference except for Rooks have a core of guys that insist on lots of altitude so you have to climb out longer & the Bish have LTARS.
I like getting the guy that just got me. More often than not you hunt down that Spit only to find out it's someone else and the original guy is landing kills. Then of course there are those times when you go back for revenge and the same guys sends you to the tower:D

I was under (the apparently mistaken) impression that the Bish were the default, as I was a bish the first time I logged onto the game for my 2 week trial... Thanks for the clarification Lusche. I publically apologize for that portion of my rant.
Truth be told I look for the best fight, or the place where we can wreak the most havok on the opposition. I look to take the initative away from the "bad" guys, and to make them react to us rather than reacting to what they are doing. I always find it more fun to create a fight on my own (and our squads) terms than to wade into a huge furball. I also like to break up a spawn camp... just to aggrivate the campers.
-
New players default to the country with the lowest numbers the first time they log in.
-
Don't hunt anyone in particular (though I will sometimes look for the last guy who killed me).
As far as country differences go, well, there shouldn't be a real net difference with so many on a "country's" side. In spite of that, my KPD is almost 2 kills per death better against the bish than the rooks.

For some odd reason, Rooks have consistently a significant higher total K/D as a country than Knights or Bishops.
Last tour: Rook K/D 1.21, Knight K/D 0.96, Bish K/D 0.85.
And it has been that way at least since I started playing 2 years ago.
-
I usually log on and fight against the side we need the most help against. Somehow that always seems to be against the Knights so I usually end up fighting Knights a bit more than Rooks.
Over time, my K/D rate is consistantly 1 K/D better aginst Knights than Rooks so I guess it all works out OK.

Like Latrobe I to go for the most annoying airplane out there. I try, if I see them a P38 nd then hurris, or LAs. Next would be the ponys and the spits. After that I see and shoot.

i hunt them BK guys cuz...well......they took ma candy!

Our squad usually works together as a team to accomplish various goals within AH. Determining who we go after normally is decided by which base is under attack, who has the most bases or where the biggest dar bar is.
By opening Kill Stats in expanded format located in the scores section provided by HTC I was able to see that we as a squad killed more Bish than Knits last Tour. I thought we pretty much attacked or defended against both a little more evenly. I'll check tour 93 next to be sure.
Tour 94
Country Kills Of killed by
Bishop 4339 3699
Knight 3736 3316
Rook 8075 kills as Rook
Looks like we killed a few more Bish again
Tour 93
Bishop 3076 2550
Knight 2474 2026
Tour 92 we killed more Knits so it appears
Tour 92
3139 Kills of Bishops
2665 Deaths by Bishops
3949 Kills of Knights
3498 Deaths by Knights
Going back farther it seems to ping pong back and forth between them. I guess that makes us equal opportunity killers. We as a squad don't appear to be killing or taking bases from one side more than the other most of the time and is dependent on my first statement.
I was unable to see country vs. country stats to see who fights who more often. Knits seem to complain more about being double teamed tho. I see the knits banding together more lately and all countries fight each other evenly overall unless near a reset.
-
I use to up to hunt bombers on non squad nights but I seem not able to find them anymore. I just up from CV's or where ever the Bish need the help and start porking fields in the area.
This last tour I had more kills vs Rooks @ 1.7 k/d, Knights was 2.3 k/d. I went back and checked the last three tours and it didn't mater what side i killed more the k/d were the same. So i conclude the Rooks are more skilled, which is obvious cause they are defiantly better in 1vs1 and also seem to able to work together in teams better, but thats just my opinion from experience.
I only fly Rooks and Knights when I'm really drunk, and that requires me to work a computer which is rare combo. So needless to say my kills vs bish are no good.

The enemy of my enemy is not my friend. I fly for the knights. Just go after the good fight. Chasing the red icons.cheers and merry christmas everyone.

Who do I hunt? Nobody - if its red, I run away from it, otherwise I may well get shot down.....errrrr...hold on......if its red, its dead...yeah, that sounds better.

I used to fly, in a WWI sim called Flying Circus. Fantastic flight model and lots of fun. In this sim...... you could see the name (alias) of your enemy when within range.
Imagine for a moment......an arena with this feature turned on. It makes "Hunting[/b]" so much more fun.
So...your flying along and you see a contact (dot)......You fly towards it and as you get close enough, you can see his online alias....its the SOB that just shot your down........and the fight continues. {evil grin}
Wish Hitech would offer an arena of this type......
