hurt by this "man made global warming" as they call it?
I think it is great we are in this natural warming cycle. Beats the crap out of a natural cooling one.
I think that only pain will be all the fees and taxes and power grabs the lefties will be able to ram down our throats based on this bogus threat of "man made global warming"
The irony is that we will be freezing this winter and paying these buffoons a fortune for nothing.

I am. Global warming is far too slow! It's freezing outside this time of the year! Keep chucking out those carbon-dioxides. :aok

There is no way global warming exists. The jury is still out. How can humans change the environment? Sounds impossible to me. It's just a natural occurance that happens. Even if there is global warming it will not affect me. I'll be dead or taken up to heaven to chill with Jesus, while you non-believers suffer the rapture.

Here we go again.

29 degrees outside, 40 knot gusts, fortunately I live on a mountain so when all this warm air melts the ice caps and the ocean rushes inward, I'll be in like flint:cool:

Al Gore's concern for the enviroment is about as genuine as my pleather seats.

How can someone who won a Nobel Peace Prize be wrong? None of us have won the award.

Reelect Al Gore '08.

Word. What would it take for you people to realize that humans do impact the environment. Wouldn't it be better to play it on the safe side? This issue has nothing to do with being liberal or conservative, it's about humanity.
-
They say that if global warming continues at it's present rate then in 15 years Britain will have a climate like the south of France.
As a side effect Holland will be underwater, together with lots of Norfolk.
Not really seeing the downside here......

Because he is a POS. He doesn't give a ratts behind about the enviroment. He just wants the attention, and will most likely turn it aounf for his own personal gain. Just like he did when he was VP (see link).

I believe in mans ability to negatively impact the environment. After that I know very little about anything.
-
Is it really so hard to believe that we are responsible for some of the causes of global warming?
ack-ack
-
I'm seeing more than just a little bit of personal anger issues surfacing. Cause making a poopie over Gore is always the bottom line in the debate/poll over climate change and the current rationalization that since it exists and we're too selfish to change lifestyles it must be beneficial.
:D
-
Before you judge my position I will explain it.
I hate Gore and don't beleive that he deserves any praise for any involvement he has had with the climate change issue.
I do beleive in the theory that it is possible for man to change the climate. I have yet to see undisputed evidence that that is what is happening. I feel that there are many other possible cause for climate change, which I do agree is occuring, that are just as likely as it being man-made. Because I do beleive that the idea of man-made climate change is possible I do agree in taking preventive measures. But since I do not see proof that that is the cause, I do not beleive in radical changes that can have negative economic effects.
So yes man should be doing things to reduce our CO2 emissions, but not in a way that will cause possibly unessecary problems.
And don't blame my political stand point for hating Gore. I am not affiliated with either party nor do I beleive in a party system.

Man can influence the climate not just by gross pollution but also by urban sprawl. A recent study commissioned by NASA (http://science.nasa.gov/newhome/headlines/essd26apr99_1.htm) shows cities like Atlanta and Phoenix have directly influenced local weather patterns.

I accept your stance (whether I agree or not). Just didn't find the "WhyIhateGore-a-thon" particularly convincing nor relative to Laz' "who all here's enjoying the climate change as much as me?" poll. :)

I have seen that about the cities influencing weather before, but tto me that is really unavoidable. Anywho, I brought up My position on Gore because it seemed to me that Mac was saying because Gore got a nobel peace prize that what he says must be true, and I obviously disagree.

I find it curious how all you do so good to deny your own downfall. Funny, really. No faith in the great, and no faith in the bad. Where is faith then, I ask?
It is no mystery that you are destined to fail. But you will deny more, I do not doubt.

Oh.. I believe it is possible for man to have an effect on small areas of the globes climate like right around cities or campfires.
I know it is possible for me to make it hotter or colder in my Lincoln.
That doesn't mean it is affecting norway in any significant way.

Fart in a paper bag and then put your head in it. That's a quick study of the global warming theory. OK so if you believe global warming is a myth, put your head in the sand.
If global warming is just possibility and we make changes to our industry and the way we treat the earth, isn't that the direction we should be headed anyway?
I for one would hope that we could get some better movies out of the global warming theory. So far they've all sucked.
-
better yet... open a pepsi in your home and let the co2 out and then get ready to be broiled alive by the increased greenhouse effect.
Take a walk outside your city and see how big the world is... let the wind blow your fart away...
In the meantime... enjoy this pleasant warming period in our global climate and relax.. it will get colder soon enough.. just as night follows day.

It's so typical of these California hippie liberals. "There's no problem, just let me do what I want and it'll all be O.K."
I understand L.A.'s smog problem has been reversed over the years corresponding to the state's enacting strict emissions and environmental policies. Maybe it was just coincidence.
Just remember, if we had listened to Tipper's warnings twenty years ago we probably never would have been able to enjoy rap and all the cultural benefits that came along with it.
I personally think both of the Gore's are a criminal waste of groceries but every once and a while a blind nut does find a squirrel.

From an online resource:
"A few words about LA's almost-legendary smog: Much of the reputation for smog here was created in the 1970s when LA truly had some of the worst air in the world. However, massive smog abatement campaigns have paid off and Los Angeles now has the best air it's had in 20 years. In fact, in 1999, Los Angeles was no longer the place with the highest ozone concentration in the nation. All of that is not to say that the air in LA is always clear as a bell. Some days, there is still a heavy haze over much of the city. Some of this is natural - the LA basin has been hazy since before industrialization."
Sorry for assuming correctly.

hahahaha If your real convictions are anything like your writings here so far... pooo-leze, by all means, go fight with the Taliban; they think like you apparently do, dear.
BTW, the NSA and the Department of Homeland Security, without doubt, monitor this BBS :D If not, they are only a phone call away from doing so...

Judging from the excerpt below, Saad, I would say you are already on thin ice with regards to sum total of all your writings on this BBS so far, in my opinion, because what you are stating is intimidating to me and I am an American citizen.

PS: From --> http://www.homelandsecurity.state.pa.us/homelandsecurity/cwp/view.asp?Q=166134&A=519
excerpt: Spotting and Reporting Suspicious Behavior in Pennsylvania is as easy as 1, 2, 3
1 Know What to Look For:
Terrorism: The unlawful use of force or violence targeting persons or property to intimidate or coerce any segment of the Government or civilian population regarding political or social objectives. Terrorists use incidents and threats to create fear, to convince citizens that their government is powerless to protect them, or to get publicity to promote their cause. Here are a few red flags that should raise your suspicions:
Unusual or extended interest in public utilities, large public gatherings, transportation centers, government buildings and other possible terrorist targets.
Unusual requests for information, particularly about security or procedures for at-risk buildings or activities.
Suspicious activity, especially when connected with a high risk or symbolic target.
Fraudulent/conflicting ID or documents.
Unusual rentals, purchases, deliveries, or thefts, particularly of poisonous or flammable chemicals, explosives, weapons or vehicles (including planes or boats).
2 Know What to Report:
If you see suspicious behavior, do not confront the individuals involved.
Take note of the details:
S - Size (Jot down the number of people, gender, ages, and physical descriptions)
A - Activity (Describe exactly what they are doing)
L - Location (Provide exact location)
U - Uniform (Describe what they are wearing, including shoes)
T - Time (Provide date, time, and duration of activity)
E - Equipment (Describe vehicle, make, color etc., license plate, camera, guns, etc)
3 Know How to Report It:
To report a tip:
If it is an emergency, contact local law enforcement immediately. They will conduct a rapid assessment and initiate appropriate action.
E-mail - Pennsylvania State Police - sp-intelligence@state.pa.us
Call PA Terrorism Tip Line — 1-888-292-1919 (toll free),
Call FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Forces - Pittsburgh FBI 412-432-4000 - 23 Western Counties; Philadelphia FBI 215-418-4000 - 44 Eastern Counties

LOL... so now "as LA goes... so goes the planet.." ??
No one denies that man can pollute a stream or a craphole like the LA basin.. that doesn't mean that if you do.. every stream on the planet suffers or every bit of air in the world is affected.
relax.. enjoy the pleasant warm spell that will end soon enough.

Please tell me where I even mention the thought "as LA goes...so goes the planet..."
I was just correcting someone's false assumption that LA's smog has improved when it really hasn't.
The fact is, you are going through life with blinders on. Sure, it might do the job for you but I find it a very boring and close minded way of going through life. Enjoy.

Last night we had -10C here in Moscow. Now we have 0C. I feel much more comfortable.
I think that it's better then Ice Age. I'd prefer to build dams to protect Leningrad from floods then to have 2km of ice there. And glacier went to the South from Moscow mere 20000 years ago.

Borodafka!
-
exactly boroda.. how many people freeze to death every year there compared to how many die of the heat in the summer?
Who here thinks it is too warm and that it is so hot that we need to do something about it?
What bad things have happened so far? They say that it will all go bad some time in the future but we see no data for even next year.
Let's see their predictions for next year or five years from now... if the data shows no big deal.. we relax and enjoy life.
If the data shows real heat wave problems and.. the big and.. AND the precictions are accurate and the reasons stated make sense.. then we try to do something to prevent the next five year prediction from happening.
Like.. put out all the coal fires and start up a lot of nuke plants.. that sort of thing.
