Title: My First Sony Vegas Film! "Reborn"
Post by: BMathis on December 04, 2007, 03:14:31 PM
<> Guys and gals.

I recently was looking at some photos of my neighbors Spitfire MK IX. I decided the next day to up one and check out the flight characteristics. I filmed the sortie, and went back to check it out in the Film viewer. I realized that the Spitfire I was flying was the EXACT same plane as my neighbors...

He actually bought the Spit off a pole near an airbase in Scotland,  and rebuilt the entire thing. He painted it as it was when it flew in WWII.

So I decided to make a film out of the sortie using Sony Vegas! Bear with me on this,  as this is the first time I've got to delve into the GINOURMOUS amount of things you can do with Vegas... (You'll notice some sound issues) Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and comments are always appreciated!

Spitfire Mk IX - Reborn (http://www.mediafire.com/?6tosj3c0gmb)

I owe a special thanks to Kermit for his patients and expertise on helping me with this project.

That's an... interesting check6 you've got...

What sound pack did you use? Or was that all done in post? I might want to try out those guns sounds (and hit sounds) some day.

I liked the music choice :)

I need to get a copy of Sony vegas. Haven't made a movie in a couple years now. WMV just ticks me off.

Anyway I enjoyed it BMathis, keep'em coming:)

Now, whats the full story on your neighbors Spitfire?  That is really cool.

Do we get more pics?

cheers,
RTR

<> Krusty, thanks for watching. The sound pack is from our JG3 Wing 2 CO, ReDhAwK. I'm sure he'd get you a copy if you PM him. The Chk 6 sounds were recorded at a JG3 gathering at Shops place in NC. Hiball is the recorded ch6 you hear. If you want to hear them all, and pick one. PM me, I'll post 'em somewhere you can get them.

RTR

I'll get some Video I have on a website. Forget the stills, You can watch him fly it. :D  <> And thanks for watching my film. I'll get better, sooner or later.

Mathis, I hate you!

You're a lucky son of a...!

Not only you're becoming a pilot, you live next to a Spitfire owner!!!! :D

Man, I really envy you! :)

Btw, nice film and great "check 6"! :D Why don't you guys make that sound pack public? I bet it'd have a lot of success.

Can't wait to see that Spit fly... any more info about it? When was it built, how many missions it flew, in what squadron, kills, etc. etc.

Thanks Gian. I'll get all that info asap. The pilot was actually a french pilot. He was shot down 4 times I believe and survived all of 'em. He's still alive today, but too old to tavel to see the plane. He's got pics of it though.

And Denholm, I really appreciate that. Thanks for watching everyone! <>

That isn't an original Zero, is it?

Who's your neighbour? John Travolta???

Thanks for the pictures :) Will he let you fly them, when you'll be a pilot? ;D

There are no original zeros in the world. The only 2 they have flying were 99.99999% built from scratch based on wrecks that were pulled off the ocean floor.

Of course, my info is 5+ years old, so this may have changed.

Nope not an original. He put that together using 18+ Different planes. Gear are form a p-51, frame from several T-6s, etc, etc... He actually fabricated the tail design using a scale model, and projecting its shadow on the wall. He also fabricated the cowl to look just like the Zeke... He's an amazing and very talented builder.

And I'm already a pilot Gian, but I'm sure he wont let me fly them ;) Fun to talk to though. <>!

Things have been better. I'd like to be back before the end of December, but it depends on how certain events play out.
