The classic rock band Journey announced they've found a new lead singer, Arnel Pineda, from YouTube.
Neil Schon, guitarist, said:
“I was frustrated about not having a singer, so I went on YouTube for a couple of days and just sat on it for hours... After watching the videos over and over again, I had to walk away from the computer and let what I heard sink in because it sounded too good to be true. I thought, ‘he can’t be that good.’ But he is that good, he’s the real deal and so tremendously talented. Arnel doesn’t sound synthetic and he’s not emulating anyone. I tried to get a hold of him through YouTube and I finally heard from him that night, but it took some convincing to get him to believe that it really was me and not an imposter."
Here's a clip of Arnel Pineda - from a bar band in the Phillipines, to new lead singer for Journey. Give the kid a listen. He's pretty darn good. Link>> (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HjcCzgCCX0&feature=related)

Amazing story Rolex...
I listened to several of their videos the guy is a very good singer.
Im sure it will be a big difference from playing in front of 30 people when he gets with Journey.
He will actually now have a band behind him that measures up to his talent his old band needed some help as he carried them by himself.
Great Story and Im looking forward to hearing some new Journey material.
Nice find...

What happened to that girl with the really long side burns? Did they kick her to the curb? what was her name... Steve Perry?
-
Wow, really?

That's right out of the movie "Rock Star".
The guy's a talent, and I think can do justice to the music.
Amazing story.
(remind me to tell y'all the story of partyin' w/ Neil Schon and Jonathan Cain sometime...)

Through all of the years of singing with Journey, he had stagefright. In fact back around 1994-1995 he was back in, and the rest of the members "rushed a tour" without his consent. He left again.

One heck of a voice ~ nice!
*edit* I listened to that and some others several times. Liked it more after than before each time I listened.

Amazing and good.

Journey is still recording?

I went to a Journey/Def Leppard concert last summer and it wasn't Steve Perry singing for them, actually don't know who the guy was but he did a pretty good job.

I'd fall asleep if I was playing in that (cover)band.
