S! Everyone.
So I'm downloading all the sights again now that I'm back and I cant seem to find the ostwind sight I used to use. It consists of a few horizontal bars, marking distances, 1k, 1.5k, etc. If anyone could provide a link to where I could DL this one again that would be great. Thanks in advance!

Yes. It's no tank gunsight, but a reflector gunsight just like in a fighter.
-
Never use sights.

It's best not to use the sight at all. Just use your page up key and page all the way up and set your head position. This way you can have a unobstructed view of the sky. Just follow the tracers, they will tell you where your aiming and then make adjustments to your aiming accordingly.

never ever use the osti sight...thats where ya will go wrong

Better yet, before moving your head position place your cursor right under the dot in the sight.

I use the default view and sight. I'm very confident in my Ostie skillz and have no problems.
I don't use tracers and it's all in the lead.
-
If you shut off tracers everyone but you can see them. Unless they changed it.

I saw a couple of (probably LTAR posts) where y'all were talking about how you page up & save head position & use the tracer line to determine where to shoot.
I tried that, but can't determine 'where' in the tracer line the hits register.
The big thing I saw as an advantage was the visibility when you look around, because the panels aren't blocking your side/rear views. That was a big plus.
But was the increased visibility worth the not being able to hit anything? Nah.

How do you not use tracers? Didnt they change it to where tracers in vehicles don't turn off? I tried several times unsucessfulllllly several times before stopping the attempts.

I think its a current bug to where you cant turn off ostie tracers right now

Grab them from my link in my signature and you'll double that selection of Rangers. Him and I have been collecting those for a while... think he needs to update his site with it... :D

<---- has never been shot down by Karaya in a Osti. It must be working well for him. :D

You either mark the screen (some folks use an overlay, or a piece of scotch tape, or put a little dot on the glass if you have a CRT), or put your mouse cursor on the dot in the gunsight, then move your head position, keeping the mouse in place.
I personally use the mouse cursor (you can handily disable the mouse with a single keystroke)- I think this is the simplest and most effective method. Marking the glass on my old CRT caused me to see 2 dots when I focused on the action, and I now have an LCD, which I'm trying very hard not to screw up.

Sketch has the best gunsite collection around. Has 3-4 osti sights if I remember right.
-
Its All In the Hips..no seriously I do not use tracers nor sights... have a small dot in center of screen. Believe it or not it helps with other aiming points to Tanks an Aircraft. It also helps when you get in a groove. And remember lots of Lead.
-
I put a small dot on my screen where the centre of the sight would be.
That way I always have a spot to aim at :lol
My default view settings in the Osti is up and out of the armour.
The dot is also in the right place for almost all gun positions, it works for planes as well as pintle guns, rockets on the PT's and CV guns.

It's exactly the other way: If you don't change that head position, you won't be able to hit anything. IF the enemy plane is not flying directly towards or away from you, you need to lead so much that your view is completly blocked by the panels. ( A plane buzzing by 1000yds away you usually need to lead about a half screen!)
