Also, the icons that are dark when there is a new post in a thread, but faded when you have read that thread? They stay faded much of the time, even when there are new posts.

The settings for all that is stored in a cookie on your computer.  Email notifications are a different beast, and we recently removed all thread/forum subscriptions as there were too many accounts with bogus email addresses set to get email notification.  You just have to subscribe again.

But if you are expecting an email notification, you will need to enable it in your "User CP" as those were all turned off recently due to the same above problem.

Email notification is causing us a lot of grief.  More and more ISP's are taking to blocking all email from our servers due to people complaining about the notifications rather than simply turning them off in thier User CP.  So, we turned them all off.  If you want those, you will have to turn it on.

If you want the ICONS to reflect the correct status of the forum and thread, you will have to allow the cookie the bulletin board uses to be stored on your computer.

My cookies are allowed.  It appears to only be affecting the threads i subscribed to within the past few days.  With a few exceptions the new subscriptions are not showing up while the older ones are.

This is a screen shot of my CP within 10 minutes of posting on 4 threads.  Keep in mind that i had been posting to these threads quite a bit the 24 hours prior to this.  When i select "show threads from" "last day" i get only 4 threads showing there, none of them are new.  I have even tried to subscribe to a thread manually, but still no luck.

thanks.

It appears to be broken.  I have no idea why, but will see if I can find out.  Did you have email notifications turned on in your CP?  That is what has changed in the last few days.

By default it was enabled.  I forced them all off the other day in all BB accounts.

Skuzzonator,

My e-mail notifications were enabled & cookies were on; but like the previous posters I would post in a thread and it would not automatically subscribe me.

It seems that the settings were changed when you guys did an update/adjusted some settings on the BBS & boards members settings changed w/o notice.

I fixed my settings and am back up and running, so to speak.

Clerick I figured out hwo to fix it here let me give you the directions :

Go to USER CP

Then to Edit options

and then put these in this order then post a thread and see if it works

Messaging & Notification
Allow Bulletin Board Administrators and Moderators To Send You Email Notices?  yes

Hide Email Address?
Clicking yes hides your email address in your public profile, so that it is not accessible by other users.  no

Use 'Email Notification' by default?
Using this option emails you whenever someone replies to a thread that you have participated in.  yes

Enable Private Messaging?
Allows people to send Private Messages to you  yes

Send you an email when you receive a Private Message?  yes

Pop up a box when you receive a Private Message?
This will pop up a small warning box when you receive a Private Message asking whether you want to view the message.    no

It worked for me.

I used to be able to go to my User CP and it would show all the threads I had replayed to. Now it never shows anything. I have to go threw every different category of the BBS to see if anyone has replayed to my threads.

U must enter your email addy under edit profile.  The first 2 blocks there.  1 says email address, and the other says confirm email address.  After u enter your email address, MAKE Sure U click the submit modifications button at bottom.  Ater u do that, go to edit options and makesure use email notification by default is selected as yes.  Again click on submit modification.

Like I stated before, I use a hotmail account and it works fine.  Its your setup that is probably the problem.

Not rocket science, i know how to do it.  You must have entered the email info some time ago.  Since i signed up for the BBS nearly a year ago i have not been able to use a Hotmail account.  Delete your address then try to reenter it and see if you get this too;

"Your email address has either been banned or you are attempting to use a Hotmail address. Hotmail blocks email from this server, and refuses to discuss the matter with us. If this is not the case, then contact the administrator by clicking here"

Any questions?

You could always try a different Email provider (Gmail, Yahoo, etc) the use an autoforward rule to forward to your Hotmail. Or just use the new acct for bbs activity.

Just a thought.
