I am not too sure what all is included in this bare bones system.  


could someone help me out?

It's a dead-end system. You can't upgrade it, and it's not that great to start with.

Depends on if you just want something for word processing or not?

I already have several computers built,  I just want something that I can stick on my vizio 42" 1080i  lcd tv.

I bet you dollars to donuts it won't do HDMI or HDTV output, and it doesn't even have a slot or the power to run a card that can go to your TV.


EDIT: oh, I see... it's not a real computer per se, it's meant to only be used with a TV. I thought you were looking at something else. This is a different class of machine entirely (more DVD player than computer, IMO).

Should work, but dont' expect much from it in the way of functionality. It says Vista Home, but I'd be wary of getting some stripped down "lite" OS type of deal

Barebone systems do not come with a CPU, Memory or Hard Drives.

I avoid them like the plague.

Er... computer bare bones DO come with those. They come with just the bare minimum to boot up, though.

In this case it's less a computer and more of a web-TV type of deal. It's all a single integrated unit that's just designed to display the desktop onto the TV of your choice. So it'll start up and run, but you can never upgrade it, basically.

"Barebones" is a term used very loosely and very broadly.

I've seen "barebones" systems that consisted of nothing more than a case, power supply, and motherboard.

I've seen others that included EVERYTHING except a monitor and an operating system.  Most "barebones" systems come un-assembled, meaning you get all the parts separately and you get to put it together yourself.

I've seen a lot of websites package together a bunch of old overstocked hardware they have laying around, and ship it together as a bundle kind of deal, so be careful before purchasing a "barebones" system.

So basically "barebones" simply means that you'll need to add something to get it to work.
