Nickelback
Pretty much the 'Anti-Floyd' for me, and the best reason I've come across so far to envy the deaf.
-
yeah, goto one of their concerts and you'll be asking Ticketmaster for you 200back.

Today's bands......Boring.....
Record industry looking to secure their investment so they get the same crap that they got last time. People buy it cause they don't know any better.
Example, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Nirvana. When those bands came out they crushed the others. And people went nuts because they forgot what real music sounded like.
-
Your kidding right??? I've been to several Nickelback concerts and they kicked ass. Saw them with Puddle of Mud and 3 Doors Down a few years ago and Nickelback stole the whole show.
Personally I like them but everyone has their own taste in music. To each their own.

AFI is worse. Corporate puppets who suck arse live.
-
I was expecting video links!!!!
Okay, since there isn't one, I bring one. Bad News I'm afraid.
These guys are probably quite good, so when they wanna go bad they're good at it.
Enjoy :t

Perhaps.
I hear that they are opening for these guys next summer. It should totally rock the geriatric scene!

greenday.
-
Nope, not kidding...
My own personal tastes tell me that they combine the worst singing(guy sounds like he's straining to unload a calcified terd), song writing with the most unoriginal musicianship I've ever heard.
3 doors down over nicelback any day.
-
I hate Creed. Sorry but I'd listen to Nickelback, before Creed.
-
I actually like listening to nickelback ~ I don't like looking at them though. That just ruins it. I like 3 DrsDwn too, and Breaking Benjamin, seether, 3days grace.
I had to suffer through listening to those as I was screenin the music my teen listens to (yes, nerdy moms still do this). I didn't tell him that I actually liked some of it...
And there's a few other bands he really likes ~30 seconds to Mars or something like that. Those all seemed okay. But Killing Ginger? Killing Heidi? Or something like that I didn't like them ~ just the name alone was awful.
Worst band though? If you ask my son, it's evanescence. If you ask me, it's gotta be any/all of the rap guys.
-
Yeah, Creed is an abomination. Their lead singer is the biggest sweetheartbag ever, but I still think his voice sounds better than constipation boy.
As for rap... I tend to dislike it, but some of the stuff out of the 90s I liked. It was before marketing took the industry over. Wu Tang and the independent albums spawned by their members was some of the best, imo.
-
Creed and nickelback... that choice pains me when trying to decide which band I would most like to see drop off the face of the earth. It's really a tough call. Both feature full-of-themselves, holier-than-thou frontmen who think they're Jesus, ****ty overdramatic and self important songwriting, and to top it all off they do it while throwing in the most cheeseball riffs (when they bother to put in a riff instead of just strumming out chords with the distortion turned way up) and generally making the most unoriginal music evar.
I detest both pretty evenly.
-
i happen to like Lacuna Coil a lot... doesn't hurt that the lead singer is a mega-babe.
-
I call 'em NickelSack.
Basically, if it's on the radio, I don't like it. (Classic stuff aside)
Snobby? Yessir.
-
TOOL
-
haha but lacuna coil is a totally different genre. they do make good music though. i like them better the evenecnce any day!

That whole concert had to be boring. Everyone of those bands on that bill sound the same.

Any of the so-called "Boy Bands" or "Girl Bands", which aren't really musicians (b/c they don't play instruments), and don't write any of their own songs. Many times, they don't even sing their own junk.
And any of the 3-chord, deep voiced & bellowing lead singer rock bands. I would lump Nickleback and Creed in that category. All sound the same to me.

That's actually a rather clever name for a band.

Music sucks because radio sucks.
One, now, is in bed with the other.
In the old days, payola got you fired, and thrown out of the business.
Today, mega-owners decide what YOU want to hear, and which bands make it and which ones don't based on the cash they get from the labels.
Clear Channel, Cumulus, and Citadel have destroyed two industries by greed.
If radio didn't suck bigtime, there would be no such thing as satallite radio, which 75% sucks.
If those modes of medium didn't suck so bad there wouldn't be a "search" button on the radio.

68 Rox you are so right. As a musician i have a good idea. It's a big popularity contest. Instead of recognizing talent they recognize money. Now i'm a big classics fan. Zeppelin, Sabbath, Megadeth, Doors, Hendrix, Beatles, Metallica, GnR, and so on. I even dig on Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, some Marvin Gaye, and Miles Davis, old R&B, Willie Nelson and such. Real musicians....! Music stopped being interesting for me after about 1996. I loved the grunge thing and felt like it was a breath of fresh air. Say what you want about those bands musicianship, but they were full of intensity, creativity and fire.
They brought rock back to what it was supposed to be, basic, with absolutely no pretenses, raw and dangerous. Most bands toay are influenced by this. Guitar players no longer play solos because of this, but they lack all that fire. Kurts Cobain for instance was a sucky guitar player that i always found wonderfully refreshing, in his unschooledness. The solo in In Bloom is one of my favorites cause after listening to CC Deville and Van Halen and all the other amazing guitar players all those years. (not necessarily CC. lol). That solo made me go WTF??? He's playing that on the radio and it's selling? I loved the "screw it, here's a song" attitude.
That said, if you really wanna hear skull crushing guitar grooves chech this.

So true. Some of my all-time top favorite bands are from the Grunge era: Nirvana, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, and Alice in Chains. You can just feel the music as well as listen to it. Takes the music experience to a whole new level.

Not always. I listen to Hendrix, Sabbath, Zeppelin, etc. and I'm 19. I got my Mom hooked on Godsmack a few years ago.
Worst band ever to me goes to linkin park. I can't stand that noise.
If you are talking live music then Breaking Benjamin is really bad. they are ok on the radio but I saw them open for Godsmack when they were a newer band and they just stank something awful.
I do agree that creed and that stuff are just awful. I listened to them when I was 10 but then I heard real music and havn't been able to stand them since. A few years ago some guys tried to sue creed for being really bad at some concert.
-
CCR is my fav. I know that's far from 'the worst' in the topic.... but what the heck.

Txmom when you were screening nickleback did you happen to take a look at some of their lyrics??? My 11 y/o wants them on his mp3 player and I have absolutely refused. I will listen to a song of theirs and then go look up the lyrics and it's absolutely ridiculous what they are talking about doing and it is getting on the radio.
-
The Miami Dolphins! Ohhhh, you said BAND... uh I'll go with SPINALTAP!!

Yeah, I picked out certain songs and allowed him to play those ~ some of their songs were absolutely the most provocative that I've heard in years. They were a big no-go. But 'far away' I let him down load (he said 'no thanks' to that one...), and also, there was one other song of theirs that I told him he could download onto his mp3 player ~ 'saving me,' I think it was. He said no thanks to that as well.
He moved on to Queen. Much better choice, I thought. :)
In my review of his music, that was the biggest surprise to me, was nickelback. When I screen their music I have to listen to the songs about 5 times each, cause I always miss stuff the first few times. And I'd rather listen to the music than look up the lyrics online.
Good job, btw, on refusing music to your kid that you believed to be inappropriate.
