Let's cut right to the chase: Will Hillary be elected president in 2008 or not? Yes or No?
Decide carefully -- Aces High polls have enormous influence over the outcome of elections.
This is a quick thread for all high aces. Just answer Yes or No.

No.
Obama's VP? Maybe.

The feminists proved they are more about furthering their political agendas than principles when they remained mute on the recent imprisonment of the teddy bear teacher.

It doesn't matter a whole lot what you or I may want to happen. If forced to bet on any one candidate's chances -at this point in time- I'd put my money on her.

I think when the debates start, people will once again choose the lesser of two evils, that being any republican candidate.
-
No, and not for the above stated reasons. Simply put there are still too many people in this country that do not think a woman can do the job of President.

I don't like her, but if she is the front runner on the Dem's side I'd vote for her. I'd rather see Obama get elected out of the two. Anytime I've heard that man speak, he says what I want him to say.

Unfortunately, I can see it happening . . . even moreso because the Republicans field looks weak to me.

No.....
I rather see a chimpanzee elected office than what we got now. So anythings an improvement.
Will she be elected .... No. I don't trust her. I don't think she quite knows what she's doing. And i think she'll be soft on terrorism. I think we should change how we are fighting terrorism, not stop fighting terrorism. Along with heavy diplomatic efforts in the region and the world to clear up our reputation and what the current fool has done. As well as heavy covert search and destroy of terrists and their plans. I think thats one reason we haven't had another attack, Bush's raiding into privacy. He's doing a good job with that, but might go too far.
My money is on Mc Cain in 08, but i don't think he'll win. He's too honest, and has too many guts, and is way too smart and objective. Generally those people don't win. Becoming president is a popularity contest and the American people fall for propoganda over facts every time. The average U.S. citizen is an idiot, especially in political terms and doesn't have one iota of clue what it takes to be president.

We'll feel ashamed for doing what we'll be doing if she ever even thinks about being ashamed for just one thing she's done.
Until then, we'll be content and amused.

Immigration
Manufacturing
Value of the dollar

Venzuela? bush's mess?

I don't think she will even will the democratic nomination. She is showing herself to the people to be wishy washy, will tell anyone what they want to hear, can't really stand firm on any policy. The only thing consistent about her is her lust for power. She is a lieing evil person.

Gas prices---function of cost of oil, which is ~$90 a barrel right now on world market. Tapping the vast reserves in Alaska could help that, but Dems (including Hillary) won't allow it
Venezuela....? Little salamander runs country, short of invading, fail to see what the US can do about it (Bush's fault??)
Iraq--Hillary can...surrender?
Iran--Bush has been doing that U.N. thing that yall seem to like so much, and they continue to enrich uranium and march unabated to having a nuke, as Iran isn't afraid of the U.N., and NOW (the report)they know Bush can't attack them...Israel may yet
Afghanistan--They have an elected democratic government, which is going ok thus far, but pockets of terrorists come over from Pakistan and kill women and children. Would Hillary invade Pakistan?
Immigration--Hillary is gonna shut down the border? WHERE has she EVER advocated doing anything LIKE that?
Manufacturing--she could raise tariffs, make it less profitable to build stuff overseas and ship it back here...unions love that stuff...but ultimately, if your job CAN be done by an uneducated Filipino, odds are it WILL eventually be done by an uneducated Filipino.
General world opinion of the US----Wanting to be liked is a weakness, and if they think so little of us, WHY are so many of them trying to emigrate here?

Guess that depends on whether I buy an agenda line that requires me to wet my pants anytime the leader of a different country that doesn't adhere to my political agenda says anything smarmy about my adored politcal icon.
What am I supposed to do about another country's business .... until it actually affects my own country? Even then. If it's business (Venezuelan oil, to be precise) .... doesn't capitalism and free trade apply to other countries? Even ones that ideologically scare you shatless?
Oh yeah ... wait ... I'm supposed to covertly nation build after I make political speeches about how I'm not about nation-building and such.

What I said, son, was that foreign policy is one of the responsibilities of the POTUS. What I said, after that, is that Venezuelan internal politics shouldn't be part of our foreign policy unless, somehow, it managed to affect the U.S. .... and do so in a way that doesn't make someone look like a total moron and hypocritE when they preach free market out of one side of their mouth and ideological fear out of the other.
I also said Bush can't seem to make up his mind as to whether he's an advocate of nation-building or not, overtly or covertly.
And I'm not sure why I'm wasting this post explaining it to you because you either don't have the capability or desire to understand what I post (probably because I've so thoroughly intimidated your agenda driven logic processor) anyhow. It's kinda like Pavlov's dog. You see "Arlo" ... you fart nonsense.

-
Let me see if I have this straight . . .
Hungry says Venezuela is a mess caused by Bush.
John asks how Venezuela is Bush's fault.
Arlo says, because everything that is foreign policy related is the "fault" of the president -- but in the case of Venezuela, there is no problem.
Does that about sum it up?
-
let me recap son , you said Venezuela was bush's mess, but have not said how you would fix the mess or exactly what the mess was.
this is going nowhere, good night son.

Don't confuse you going nowhere with this going nowhere, son*. (*Yeah, I know that ruffles your feathers. You've made that damned apparent, eh?)
Someone in this thread mentioned "Venezuela" as a fault of Bush's policies. This "confused" some here to no end, apparently. Guess I made the "mistake" of clarifying that what was being alluded to by the other poster was a foreign policy failure where the CIA was caught red-handed attempting to influence the internal politics of another country (nothing new, actually). I further mentioned my own pov regarding such policies if there seems no real need or gain from such.
And I'm still pretty sure that the word "Arlo", alone, is enough to get you to wet yourself for the sake of the agenda as a response to any topic.
-
E25280 almost got this right but here's the real gist:
Arlo says, because everything that is foreign policy related is the "fault" of the president -- but in the case of Venezuela, there isn't a problem that required the CIA influencing internal politics with his tax dollars.
You came so close but it may as well have been farther. ;)

I had to do a quick search to figure out what you were talking about. I hadn't remembered about the failed coup several years ago.
Like you say, nothing new for the CIA or US policy in general.

Ayuh. Under any post WWII admin, at that. And yeah, that was my best guess on why Venezuela made the list. If there was anything else meant, I missed it. Nobody's perfect. Even me. :D

not one politician is going to lower gas prices. why because the higher the gas the more tax money we get. even GWB knows that. people just wont stand up and not get gas for 1 day. of every 1 would stand up and not get gas for a whole day then we would start seeing changes.

gas isnt taxed by dollar, is taxed by gallon

I will never understand you right - wingers that think for a second that a form of democratic anything will last for any lenght of time in a place like Afghanistan or Iraq.
You believe Bush when he says he wants to westernize that area, and you believe him as soon as an election is held or as soon as any little thing happens that he uses to hold up as an example of how his dumb a*$ plans will work. Only to not have enough foresight to see the social and religious turmoil that will develop after such a thing has been done in a region that is not even remotely like or similiar to our own culture at all. And think people will like it.
That disrepect of other peoples right to live how they want, is the prime reason people around the world hate us, especially in that region. That very arrogance is creating our own problems. Well guess what..... most people don't like that.
This is a prime standard of the human psyche. People want to be respected for who they are and how they live and they don't want our opinions or help unless asked.
So America untill you wake up and start realizing that terrorism is alot of your own fault, no matter how good intentioned your actions are, there will never be an end to terrorism. No ammount of misguided, hapless, wars or military actions will ever help that. You cannot bomb every terrorist into oblivion, you cannot kill them all and sign a surrender. You do not know who they all are. It is not a f*cking country, get my drift. Untill America owns up to that simple fact and tries to understand and atone for that, there will never be an end to this.
So as long as we have people in other parts of the world that don't exactly want us there, as long as we keep feeling and acting as if were're superior and everybody wants to be like us. There will always be a resentment of America. We may not be able to reach the people who are terrorists now, they will have to be stopped, it's too late with them. But we better start working on how the children who are growing up in that region view us and feel about us. Before it's too late. America it's not totally our fault, but some of it is. Own up to your responsibility.

I'm pretty sure we tried to whack Castro. Unfortunately we got whacked first i wonder sometimes. That stuff goes both ways remember that. If we act like a moral fool in the world it leaves no reason or recourse for other nations not to act like a moral fool. And we as Americans will have no standing point, and it devalues our very stance as a society.
That is the burden we bear as Americans.
If only it was that simple.
But i guess that's as deep as simple people think.

I think Venezuela is not Bush's fault.
Most stuff is or is made worse by his dumb arse, diplomatic responses to it.
Including gas. Someone said not getting gas for a day would do it. Iraq is a big bleeding leg wound and a little tourniquet on the right arm is not going to help that much.
Just as terrorism is a huge headwound, and treating the foot for hammer toe (War in Iraq) is a misguided attempt to stop that.
Maybe if done repeatedly the politicians would get the message. However.

Doesnt matter who is running so long as your "team" wins.
I would actually like to vote Dem this trip around as I feel the country has moved too far to the right.
And Im tired of listening to all the whining.
Unfortunately Im not real impressed with the list of candidates.
Obama looked interesting till I saw that literally all he ever does is vote along party lines.
The rest Im like "eh"
Which would incline me to vote libritarian.
But if Hillary runs I may be forced into voting Republican as I feel she is just as devisive and will be every bit as bad for the country as a whole as Bush has been.
We are in desperate need of someone who can grasp the middle ground.
Hillary is about as far left as you can get.
End result will be. More tit for tat politics with now the right refusing to co operate for the good of the country for no other reason then to prevent her from gaining a political victory just as the left has been doing now.

Anyone who wants lower gas pprices should just turn in their SUV or other large engined vehicle that doesnt actually NEED a large engined vehicle.
Enough people do that and gas prices will drop considerably.
So long as we remain a nation of gas gluttens.
The prices of gas will remain high.

I have always liked the President, and have stood behind his decisions, and defended him against overly harsh criticism...I want him to do good. I really do. I think a lot of that has to come with the fact that I don't want to see some of these lunatic politico's, anti bush haters (particularly the extreme left), be correct and be able to say "I told you so". It's not that it's Americans vs. American's, its just I disagree with their tactics and their approach with handling situations and expressing themselves, that I don't want to see the President end up beeing as "dumb" as they claim...
I don't know anymore...If I could go back, I certaintly would not have voted to re-elect the President, and as each day goes by, I think he is more of a mistake.
This is coming from somone who had the Republican propoganda shaft stuck as far as it goes...I can just imagine how people less interested or involved with politics or a party feel.
The only candidate I support right now is Senator McCain. Unfortunately, I don't think he has a shot in hell of getting the nomination, and I don't think the GOP really has much chance against the dems in the general election if Hillary is nominated.
Too many people are fed up and want a change of party...
My prediction is that if Obama gets the nomination, GOP wins, however if Hillary gets the nomination, Dems win...I really think she will end up with the nomination, even with everything going on over the past 2 months, but particulary they past couple weeks....
I'll even go further and say that I think she will end up doing a pretty good job as President...I just cant see her being the first woman President, and allowing herself to perform anyway but to perfection, or at least making an attempt at it....
Then again, I couldn't see Bush being incompitant for years, but opinions slowly change.
Too be honest...I'm more interested in my local government and how their decisions influence my day to day life.
-
arlo... you asked me back a few pages ago... It is all three.. she is a dishonest, abrasive, socialist.
some or one of those things appeal to some democrats but never, almost never... all three. I have never seen so many democrats look down in the mouth about who they are stuck with.
win or lose.. she may be the one to turn the democrats around and get em back to a more center position... lose big and they will see the writing on the wall no matter how much money sorros gives em... win.. and they may never win another election after that.

I'm sorry I confused you, again, Laz. Even the greatest effort to avoid that is a waste when you work so hard at it being so, darlin'. I wasn't asking if that was really your opinion of Sen. Clinton. It's pretty obvious it is. What I challenged you to do was present a better case for your reasoning because you seem to have convinced yourself that she's the first to exhibit such traits and that ... the American people all think like you. If you're trying to rationalize that the Democrats have shot themselves in the foot over Sen. So, here goes.
Democrat, but conservative. I would belong to a strong 3rd party if one existed, both parties we have now are bloated and self centered and are too closely aligned with special interests.
That said...
Hillary will win both elections as long as she can keep her mouth shut. Forget about any 'Swiftboating' or muck raking, all the dirt that was available was found when Bill was in office and will have little to no bite against her.
However, Bill is both her best asset and her weakest link. If a new episode of infidelity on Bill's part is aired, it will make her seem weak and too reliant on her husband to get elected.

That has got to be one of the most honest, objective, self reflective posts i've seen. With powers of honesty like that you surely don't deserve to be a Republican. Most couldn't admit the things you just admited, even if they felt them deep in their heart. They'd still be backing up Bush even if they had 5 children and they got drafted and he killed them all and they wondered why?
Please no Hillary in 08 !
No Obama !
Mc Cain in 08!

Yeah that's right, go with the "she aint Bush" routine again, it worked well for Kerry, it was all the handsomehunkocrats could come up with in the last election and we know how that worked out for them, don't we?

arlo should run for office as a democrat, he is better at flipping and flopping what he says than Kerry and hillary combined.

Your inability to understand doesn't equate to my flipping or flopping, Jethro. But since you're convinced it does, I'm sure you can provide an example, easy enough, instead of trying to speak it into being through faith.

I think what he's trying to say is that in comparison to Hillary, Bush has proven as well as most of his entire cabinet, that they are a bunch of handsomehunkes.

I quite understand what Arlo's points are from the beginning. What i do see is people missunderstanding what he's saying and then when he tries to explain it to you retards you say he's flipping.
Republicans have this wonderful ability to hear what they want to hear and if it doesn't agree with what they think than they vilify it as propoganda.
Probably has something to do with their arrogance.

I take offence to that. I am a Republican but I am not arrogant. I am just better than everyone else.
