Title: iWear VR920 Virtual Reality Headset
Post by: TC31st on December 11, 2007, 03:33:19 PM
Apparantly this little puppy came out around April of this year.  I am now starting to see a lot of ads for it, so out of curiosity I checked out the reviews and.... it seems that this latest attempt at VR actually works and works pretty good at that!

Sooooo...I'm wondering if AH will work with it??  I know the TrackIR  system has AH support, but I'm pretty sure this thing would have to be recognized by the game.  So, whaddya think HTC-people?  How much trouble would it be to support this product?

btw, its a little pricey ~399 bucks, kinda steep, but could be pretty freakin cool if it worked...OR could also be a nightmare trying to fly THIS GAME with it.  Reviewers claim that MS Flight Simulator is absolutley awesome with this gadget but then again MS FS  if NOT  AH  ;)

I dunno, not sure I could play AH with that thing on my head, but then again.........???

Yes it works with AH. Go to http://www.vr920.com and the forums and there are some AH users there.

Someone has written a TrackIR emulator called GlovePie which works with the VR920.  I use a Z800 (http://www.3dvisor.com) VR Headset with GlovePie and AH (and some other games like LOMAC).

See here:  http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=200031&highlight=z800

I've had my Z800 for a year now, I love it. Playing in Stereoscopic 3D is awesome, and the head tracking makes things very immerive.

Likewise for FS X.

IMHO the VR920 price is very cheap, compared to other products historically you'd be paying US$1500 for a headset with trackir. My Z800 cost me $599 (its now back up to some silly price).

One warning, VR is not for everybody. It takes a bit of adjusting too, some people get motion sick for example.
