12 times his weight!

I'll be impressed when he does it with his bare hands, and not with the technological fruits of another man's labor.

how much pressure does it take to pull a trigger?

I support hunting (for food and population control), but I never quite saw the sporting appeal of a scoped rifle, feeders and a tree stand. Again, the herds have to be culled, and people can benefit from the cheap meat, but it seems to be a bit arcadish.

I didnt realise Crockett had children.
Now if he was a decendant of Daniel Boone.
That would really be something.

Poor kid, another victim of phonetically similar words. He thought he had been told over and over that he had a right to "bear arms".

I like hunting as much as the next guy, but please... I honestly hope you're kidding.
-
I wonder if this is gonna turn out like the kid who bagged the 4,000# boar.
-
:lol :lol Chairboy
-
So...
the kid was with his grandpa inside one of those concealed hiding hut thingamajigs....
bear strolls near them (was it baited? didnt catch that part), kid shot it.
mmmmmm
what's the big deal? I mean, sure, it was a big bear but its not like it was attacking the kid or anything.
Its not like he was fishing and had to fight the fish to get it out of the water.
Whole story blown out of proportions by a media that had nothing else to report and a bunch of hillbillies with too much time on their hands.

All the thrill of the hunt. The smell of napalm in the morning.

This n years stuff is more about vanity and animal cruelty than anything else. Most of these 'n years old shot this and that' came with a horrific expense of animal suffering as the kid slowly managed to kill the animal while his parents were wetting their pants with the thought of the publicity.
They should be jailed to let that 5-year old kid shoot big game, plain and simple.

Im not a hunter. Never been hunting
But
Sport hunting just for the shear pleasure of hunting is an activity thats been around for well over a thousand years.
I see no reason to change it
Whether the animal has been run to drop dead from exhaustion
Or its been shot clean through the heart.
In the end it doesnt matter. The animal is just as dead.
Its only recently the bleeding heart goody two shoes have been listened to.
I say support animal rights. Shoot the bleeding hearts instead!
:D

There's no reason to let a totally inept person to shoot animals, let alone 5 year old kids. That's just plain dumb and unnecessary cruel to the shot animal.
-
....I don't think 5 yrs old can handle weapon in safe manner.
edit; I should care less about bear. Unless he had balalaika...then I care.

I once shot Broccoli just to see it die, alone, in the rain.

Unlike your sissified country, this is a nation of Riflemen. There are no inept shooters to the right of moderate in this country.

this just in .......it has been reported that the famous smokey the bear has been shot and killed by a unknown assailant, the forestry service is investigating.

There are PLENTY of "inept shooters" in this country. I usually see 4-5 every time I go to the range.

The kid has been shooting guns since he was 2 1/2 years old.
He shot it once.....it died (hell of a shot).
If anyone here has ever been hunting (any of you?) they know about "buck-eggy" and the effect it has on hunters. My 13 yr old son missed a doe standing out in the open at 70 yards with a scoped gun. It was obvious he had the eggy, and just plain missed it despite being well trained by moi on the proper shooting techniques.
For a 5 year old to have the presence of mind to control himself long enough and well enough to kill that bear is one heck of a thing. Kudo's to him:aok
btw....did you read where he also managed to bag 3 deer?!?! I could have used him this year to fill my kid's tags!

Their momma's lookin' heavy again, so ifluff'n the next one's a boy, I'm a name him Quad, after my Honda."

What a retard you are, my country has the 3rd highest gun population in the world and we have a huge amount of licensed hunters. Here hunters are required to pass an exam for species recognition and shooting before they can hunt game, though.

You didn't make any non-sissy counterclaims. Nor say anything really amazing.

Inasmuch as he actually managed to kill the beast.
I'd hardly call him inept

think they let the 5 year old help out with the field dressing (http://www.ehow.com/how_2065166_field-dress-bear.html) or did they keep "step five" for the adults only?
LOL

In my family, you shoot it, you clean it! I would imagine he "helped " to clean it ;)

sorry i still fail to see what sport there is in shooting an animal (any kind) with a weapon that grants you an insane advantage. On top of that they don't even 'hunt' the animal, they just put bait and wait for the critter to walk into their line of sight.
Its like winning a chess game against a blind person with downs syndrome that has his hands to the chair and a dangling a piece of beef jerky near his nose.
'hunting' for sport is, imo, nothing but a made up excuse people come up with to be able to kill things with high powered weapons.
Hunting with a bow and arrow I'd accept as a 'sport' but only if its to keep the population under control.. if they use guns for population control it'd best be done by professionals hired to do so not by a bunch of armed dimwits.

I'm with ya Tac...In fact I think its quite pathetic...I have a good friend that hunts, and he always says his dream hunt would be big cats in Africa...I tell him he is a p8ssy everytime he mentions it.
Ya know what I think is ironic? If the animal a hunter is trying to bag ends up attacking and seriously wounding, or killing the hunter, that animal would immeditely be tracker and killed because it is a "danger", yet the guy running around the woods in a camo suite, a neon hat and a ridiciously high powered rifle isnt.......hmmm....
If you wanna kill for sport, why don't you be a man and level the playing field...Use your hands or a knife.
-
better if he'd teach his boy to "shoot" our vanishing widlife with one of these instead:
maybe with a larger lens :)
-
to "shoot" wildlife he may need something bigger than a 50mm lens, maybe a 200-300mm.

He may be a *****, but you show how little you know about anything.
The ONLY big cats you can hunt in Africa are condemned Man Killers.

If he beat the bear to death with it, that would be a feat.
