Good fun by a graphic art guy.  Pick your paint scheme for your B/C or D model 51.

They look REALLY nice when you print them out on photo quality paper.

Just did the follow ones to hang on my wall,

Dove of Peace                   Colonel Glen E. Duncan
Unnamed                          Captain Charles Weaver
Miss Marilyn II                   Lieutenant E Robert Welch
Big Beautiful Doll               Colonel John Landers
The Hun Hunter / Texas    2nd Lieutenant Henry Brown
Glamorous Glen III            Captain Charles "Chuck" Yeager

Thanks for the cool link.:aok

I wanted too but ran out of photo paper. I wanted the real paint jobs before that one but I'll get it one of these days.

I am no Mustang expert... so please excuse the stupid question.

On the two Cripes a mighty schemes flown by Preddy, both are D-15's, why does one have the fin leading to the tail and one does not? When were these added to Mustangs? (were some field mods?)

Were these to cure some directional instability after the bubble canopy was introduced?

Your deduction is correct.  Same for the P-47.  Compensated for the lost ridge when they went to the bubble.

Preddy's first D Model was a D-5.  Those were produced without the fin fillet which was later retrofitted to many D-5s and added to the rest of the production D models to compensate for the loss of directional stability.  you'll also see it added to many later B/C models as a field mod
