You may not have heard of him, but he was famous up here in the Pacific Northwest, Norm Johnson, FG kicker for the Seattle Seahawks for many years. He was on the radio yesterday and mentioned "The joke goes, that I initially used my foot to kick the window but I kept missing wide...."

Famous or not, that's nice indeed. :aok

With all the bad crap reported in the NFL, its amazing this story doesn't get more coverage...but then again, bad/death sells, goodness does not.

I remember Norm Johnson. Wasn't Jim Zorn was his holder?
-
What? he wasn't arrested or on drugs or anything? How did this make the news?
Norm Johnson!

Hershel Walker saved a woman's life while he was in college. Pulled the door off a car to get her out after an accident.

Geez, I can't remember that far back! ;)
Johnson finished his 18 NFL seasons with 366 of 477 field goals(76%) and 638 of 644 extra points(99%), giving him a total of 1,736 points. As of 2007, this ranks him #5 on the NFL's list of all time leading scorer, earning him the enduring nickname "Mr. Automatic" received during his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks.

Now Rip, don't tell me I've been following the Hawks longer than you. I actually went to a couple Kingdome games BEFORE the tiles were falling!
Steve Largent was fun to watch!

"He had a pretty big smile on his face," Johnson said. "He thought his dad was a hero and said 'wait until Mrs. Pitcher hears why I am late.'"
Wonderful!

Oh, don't get me wrong, I've been a fan and attending games since 1979...its just my memory isn't what it used to be! I can't remember if Zorn was still holding when Norm joined the team!
