Turkish lawyer asks for cancellation of Italian team's soccer victory because winners wore "offensive" t-shirt featuring cross
(http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/24796_news.jpg)
A Turkish lawyer has filed a complaint to Uefa after Inter wore a shirt with an offensive symbol, at least to Islamic culture, in their recent match against Fenerbahce.
A Turkish lawyer who's an expert on European law, Baris Kaska, is asking Uefa to cancel the three points Inter earned in their win against Fenerbahce in the recent Champions League match.
The Nerazzurri had beaten the Turkish champions 3-0 at home to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.
The reason for the appeal is unusual: the celebratory shirt for Inter's centenary worn by the team that night, and on several other occasions this season, offended many people in Turkey.
The shirt's scheme saw a big red cross on a white background, a symbol of the city of Milan,]/b] and reminded many of an emblem of the order of the Templars, which is considered offensive in Islamic culture.
Inter consciously did not wear their 'centenary shirt' in their first match against Fenerbahce in Istanbul, but at home, they did not think it was necessary to do the same.
However, the very sensitive Turkish media reacted bitterly and that led to the official appeal filed by Kaska, who announced this decision during an interview to Barcelona daily La Vanguardia.
Seems to be a new formula......can't win.....sue saying your feelings are hurt.

Wow.
If there's one religion that needs to butch up it's Islam.
And that muslim father in Canada killing his teenage daughter because she wouldn't wear the traditional veil...and his son covering it up from the investigating officials...all in the name of Allah.
-
I was just wondering... do Islamic Bastages think Mushroom Clouds are offensive?
Time to draw the Line somewhere...

I find the crescent offensive in the shirts of turkish players, because it reminds me of the horrors the muslim mujahideens caused to the christians they referred to as "infidels".
-
It's sad when you can't look up in the night sky and enjoy a crescent moon and star without politics.

You notice, That they didn't complain, or refuse to let the Italians on the field, or have a riot in the stands as soon as the Italians took the field-They only complained after they lost the championship game.

geeze led and bat.. do you guys really think your friends and neighbors are just bacteria? No wonder you have such contempt for your fellow humans.
Why is it that liberals always think that people are scum yet claim more compassion and empathy than everyone else?

lazs, first off when i make that statement it includes me, im not so foolish to think i am above my own critical eye. i dont hold contempt for anyone, i love my fellow bacteria.

A Turkish lawyer is taking legal action against Inter Milan, the Italian football team, for wearing a strip with “Crusader-style” red crosses that he alleges is ”offensive to Muslim sensibilities”.
I'd like to see a definition of "Muslim sensibilities".
So let's give him a beer and a pork sandwich and let him ponder this decision.
-
interesting bat.. I guess I just can't look at it that way. People just seem more complex to me.

They've hardly got a monopoly on getting offended for silly stuff.

People are dumb, it's a universal constant.

lazs when we make friendships and show compassion we prove ourselves to be above the level of poinless bacteria. as individuals we can strive for greatness through our own sense of love, happiness and fun. as a whole spieces we return through the laws of averages to a level lower than ordinary beasts. the beasts are in tune with nature and provide a perfect balance. humans consume even when they do not need to consume, we destroy and expand and multiply untill we destroy our own habitat and move on to find a new spot to start filling with more humans every minute of every day. I dont even need to go into detail about the multitude of personal sufferings brought on so many by so few for no true cause. to me this behaviour is more akin to a bacteria than a finely balanced part of the animal circle of life.

Didn't you just have a lawsuit in America by someone who got hit by a snowball?

If you say so. It's wrong though.
The "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat" have it right.
BTW, read Hilaire Belloc's "Great Heresies." Belloc is a great historian who uncompromisingly and clearly tells the truth. Wrote from 1905'ish to 1950'ish. Reading "The Crisis of Civilization" right now.
Anywho, Belloc identifies Muhammadism rightly that they may well threaten our race and way of life in the future as they did during the Middle Ages -- this was back in 1905.
-
so we have to strive to greatness by killing our enemies? i prefer the love happiness and fun ideal. didn't say it was a realistic option for humanity now. surely we would be 'greater' as a spieces if there was no such word as enemy.
as for your reference to authors, thank you i may find a copy and do some reading. i will now say though, predicting that muslims and christians would be at war in the future after the past we have shared? not exactly george orwell.
-
The problem is that virtually everyone's happiness involves stepping on someone else's happiness in some way. And when one person decides that his happiness requires killing you, you have few choices other than killing him before he kills you.

not always true, sometimes you can be happy making someone else happy.
Like the time I stuck a $20 bill in a bums shirt pocket at Xmas time, it made me happy to help the homeless in a small way and it probably kept him happy and drunk for a whole week. :D
-
Sure, but you stepped on the happiness of the stripper you would have otherwise given it to.
TANSTAAFL, friend. Nobody wins.
-
Yes, but if you're wealthy enough to be able to hand out twenty dollar bills to bums (or strippers), you probably stepped on the happiness of a very large number of people to get there (and likely still do to maintain it).
-
well, some of my customers did say i was robbing them when they got my repair estimate.

lol i know that one john. first fencing job i ever did on my own, quoted supplied and erected by mself. i charged an absolute pittance at £255 for 3 days of labour and materials. the guy agreed to the quote then argued when it came to paying. he even used physical threats ...he has 'been in the game for 25 years more than me he isnt a chump' etc etc. i wondered why he didnt build it himself..
in the end he knocked me down £5 paid in cash and told me to sod off before he got really angry.

Muslims are offended...again!
.................and I could give a rat`s behind.

I'm surprised someone hasn't come up with a religion that's sole purpose is to offend Muslims.
They could wear those cross shirts.
Call their dogs or their noodlees (or their dog's noodlees) Allah.
Use the swoop symbol.
Be Jewish.

Well, the Atheists are too busy with Christians. Hindus are too pacifist. How about the Jews? Yeah, Muslims might find their existence pretty offensive. :aok
-
Too busy w/ the Christians? Maybe we need to rethink our policy and start coming door to door in the morning handing out pamphlets and proselytizing about the virtues of Atheism if you think that.
All y'all religions are silly, and you're entitled to believe whatever you want, just don't bring my kids into it and keep yer bibles, qurans, torahs and whatnot off my constitution.
-
I'd be satisfied if you folks just stopped attacking our right to free speech. I want you to have the right to practice your nonreligion religion however you see fit so long as it doesn't prevent me from doing the same.

Yeah maybe yer right... Too many Countries and Wars are based on Religions.
Man is too stupid to base morals upon a belief. I mean like watermelon look there's Easter, Christmas or Hannuka and stuff.
I'd much rather my children grow up and worship more meaningful things like Currency. They could sit and recite the PC sayings of like ....
"In Self Reliance We Trust"
I went to an Atheist Church once.... couldn't find it.
I found something missing in it's place.
