I tossed in my two cents... well, a little more than that. :)

I did too, just before midnight, then watched the money bomb start when the clock turned over.  Pretty amazing.  The Ron Paul site lists how much money has been donated, I don't see anything like that on any of the other candidate's sites, interesting.

A large reason for my plan of voting for Ron Paul is do to his commercials. At the end of a candidates commercial you'll notice that most politicians have a voice over saying "I approve this message". Well, Ron Paul doesn't do that. What he does, for every commercial of his I have seen, is, he is camera recorded with him saying, differently for every commercial, "I'm Ron Paul and I approve this message".

What he doesn't do is just one voice that is used for every advertisement of their own try for election.

A man that pays that much attention to the small details will most definitely get my vote.

Title: Vote MAC 2008!!!
Post by: AWMac on December 16, 2007, 09:03:44 PM
Here ya go... Here is where I stand.

Save your money and Vote MAC 2008!!!

Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.

Enforce visa rules.  Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law.  This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.

No amnesty.  Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.

No welfare for illegal aliens.  Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules.  But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.

End birthright citizenship.  As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.

Pass true immigration reform.  The current system is incoherent and unfair.  But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation.  This is insanity.

Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods.

I will also work for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies.

Vote for MAC.

2008

Not to mention our health care. This is why I will promise:

Making all medical expenses tax deductible.

Eliminating federal regulations that discourage small businesses from providing coverage.

Giving doctors the freedom to collectively negotiate with insurance companies and drive down the cost of medical care.

Making every American eligible for a Health Savings Account (HSA), and removing the requirement that individuals must obtain a high-deductible insurance policy before opening an HSA.

Reform licensure requirements so that pharmacists and nurses can perform some basic functions to increase access to care and lower costs.

We must withdraw from any organizations and trade deals that infringe upon the freedom and independence of the United States of America.

It would only make us a better Country.

So called free trade deals and world governmental organizations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), NAFTA, GATT, WTO, and CAFTA are a threat to our independence as a nation. They transfer power from our government to unelected foreign elites.

Vote for MAC 2008, we will need leadership from the White House.

My only agenda would be to support Veterans after they serve and make sure they no longer get pissed on.

I'll run, I've thought about writing myself in 2008 just out of sheer protest.

It may be a lil tough at first Masherbrum because the moment a man arises who profoundly understands the distress of his people and, having diagnosed the evil with perfect accuracy, takes measures to cure it; the moment he fixes his aim and chooses the means to reach it – then paltry and pettifogging people become all attention and eagerly follow the doings of this man who has thus come before the public gaze.

Just like sparrows who are apparently indifferent, but in reality are firmly intent on the movements of the fortunate companion with the morsel of bread so that they may snatch it from him if he should momentarily relax his hold on it, so it is also with the human species.

All that is needed is that one man should strike out on a new road and then a crowd of poltroons will salamander up their ears and begin to sniff for whatever little booty may possibly lie at the end of that road.

The moment they think they have discovered where the booty is to be gathered they hurry to find another way which may prove to be quicker in reaching that goal.

As soon as a new movement is founded and has formulated a definite program, people of that kind come forward and proclaim that they are fighting for the same cause.

This does not imply that they are ready honestly to join the ranks of such a movement and thus recognize its right of priority.

It implies rather that they intend to steal the program and found a new party on it.

can you imagine the weeping and wailing and knashing of teeth of the media and all the socialists who think they were just getting out of iraq and making pot legal when they find out that paul is a libertarian and hates socialism?

let's put it this way... if ron paul is a compromise between left and right then that is the compromise I am willing to make..

I don't think the lefties will be quite so happy tho when they figure out just who and what they voted for.

You're assuming it's lefties that he appeals to.  If the "right" is, as the current republican party seems to indicate through their actions, into big spending and big government, then yes, it must be "lefties" who favor Paul.

But if the heart of the republican party actually favors smaller government, less entitlement spending, civil liberties and so on, then it's as "right" as it needs to be.

Make it so that the ONLY people who receive government benefits are those that serve (and their children to age 18 / end of highschool), and you'll have my vote without a second thought.

I'm glad to see Mac running on a good plan.

I am anxious to see how Paul does on Meet the Press on Sunday.  Like Fred Thompson, Paul makes sense and sounds great when reading blogs or transcripts, but in the flesh he reminds me of a crazy uncle.

(Or in the case of Fred Thompson, he reminds me of my Grandfather when we would wake him 30 seconds before it was time for dinner.)

If he gets any air time.  It's interesting seeing how Ze Media happens to keep accidentally not covering his campaign.  They give plenty of coverage to folks who poll lower than him, but the posts of some of the people here shows that if their intent is to convince folks that he doesn't have a chance even though he's polling high, then I guess it's working.

Of course, it's usually smarter to assume incompetence instead of malice.  They might just really not get it and assume that someone telegenic like Thompson or Giuliani just _has_ to get the nomination.

If you all are interested in throwing money into a lost cause I'd like to submit my home address for donations. I have almost as good a chance as Ron Paul of being elected.

If Ron Paul gets the nomination, I don't think any Democrat can beat him in the election. At this time four years ago, John Kerry was lower in the media polls than Ron Paul is now, yet he went on to win the nomination, so I wouldn't get smug about dismissing him.

The campaign started too early. The more the media-anointed Republican "front runners" talk, the more people are moving away from them. They have no substance. There are so many skeletons in all their closets, unlike Ron Paul. He has to be the cleanest guy to ever run in the last 50 years.

Every vote and position he has taken has been for the nation, not for himself. Since when is never accepting money from lobbyists, voting against government growth and the "federalization" of every aspect of life considered to be "crazy?" I guess people have been programmed to think that only sleazy politicians are electable - a statesman seems bizarre.

He never attacks anyone, but sticks to the issues. Others have to attack and belittle him because they certainly don't want the voting public to come to their senses and realize that only they are asked to sacrifice - the government and governing class never sacrifices anything. One of the greatest points he makes is that income tax could be eliminated simply by cutting federal spending back to the same level it was 7 years ago. Is that so hard to do?

How can you argue against the Constitution? Should kids no longer study the Constitution in school? Is it just a joke and something to be snickered at?

chair..  what I am saying is that the right and republicans would not be that upset if ron paul won.... the libertarian ideals of self reliance and smaller government and less socialism sit well with the right and the conservative and the individualist like myself.

All I am saying is that the left who vote for him would wake up with a huge hangover when they realized that smoking pot came at the expense of less big brother to watch over them and protect them and take other peoples money for their pet social experiments.
