I had a thought that didn't die of loneliness tonight about arranging a furball night. I haven't fully fleshed it out but here's the basic idea.
I don't know how hard it is to set up the maps but what I was thinking was one night a week we pick the two closest opposing bases, disable all but the two most equally matched planes, pick a CO for each side, then have them pick from who is on line to see what side they're flying with (call it pickup furballing). Okay squad allegiance for the most part but you never know who is going to wander in and I, personally, have no compunction about shooting down someone in my squad or vice versa. Set a hard ceiling and slug it out in the middle.
Like I said it's not totally fleshed out but I wanted to throw it out there while it was fresh.
Thoughts?

I've got another idea (sorry to hijack) let's set up a map with 10 fields per side and winner takes all.
In other words, taking fields wins! Each field far enough apart to cause aggro for furballing and close enough for missions to be a round trip of an hour or so for bombers.
Equal planes, all be it fictitious in historical detail. but not one sided.
Maybe it's a separate arena where the furball guys will not attend. Mission guys/squads only?
yeah right! :-) Like that will ever happen!

Taking all the bases...ie winning the "war" is bad for the AvA. The arena gets porked, and stays that way until one of us can get in there to change it back.

So how about taking all but one field wins the war?

I have an idea. How about have a historical based setup but with only two side. One for axis and the other for allied. Have the planesets limited to a certain time period, and run each setup for one week. I know it sounds crazy but I think it'll work.

As people have already mentioned, the arena reset has prevented making this possible. However HTC did add the ability to create a field order capture list for a map that may make this possible in the future. The field order capture allows certain bases to be set as uncapturable which may prevent the arena from reseting. However there are no current maps in the AvA that support this feature yet. I have submit one map, but it didn't make the cut when skuzzy built the new maps, maybe it will make it next time.....

Soda, thanks so much for the effort.
