I would be devistated if my 2 girls (18 & 16) were in that situation. Unwanted pregs, can be life wreckers. The parents have to take part of the blame for that. But as devistated as I would be I also would be very supportive. I love my kids!

I am not sure I would let my 16 year-old daughter run around with a 19 year-old boyfriend in the first place. But then again, Mama Spears has to keep the money rolling in somehow.

Do you get the point man. I'm talking about the general lack of respect and decency and increased superficiality in today's society. In a lot of young women in general. I'll call it the Paris Hilton syndrome. I believe it's due to alot of parents letting their kids run all over them these days. My father and Mother are in their 70's and people from that generation seem to come from a more solid upbringing than today. They don't make em like the WW2 generation anymore.

What a disappointment, my 2 younger sisters are big fans. Now if Hannah Montana starts doing this, im never gonna let my sisters watch TV!!!!

I doubt the DA would dare bring any charges against such a popular, well connected and rich couple. They are mostly here to harass the regular folks who can't afford to fight.

You haven`t made a point for the reasons listed above.
You can`t...no experience.
The one thing in life that can be guaranteed is the fact that there are no guarantees in child raising.
No matter how you think you have it all figured out, you are going to get some curve balls no matter how much effort and PCness you think you can put into it.
In a lot of cases what seems to be Mr. and Mrs. Parents of the decade wannabes turns out with the opposite effect.
Being a parent is something you have to experience to understand.
I consider myself quite lucky in this field.

I'm really surprised nobody except Tigress caught on to the fact they were living together... for over a year! What kind of idiot would let a 15 year old girl have a live in boyfriend (3 years older to boot!)?
Of course, the DA won't go after the boy even tho it was statutory rape. But the fracking DA should go after Lynn Spears for contributing to the delenquency of a minor. That woman is an excellent example of why abortion should have been legal in the 60's.

I didn't read the entire article but you can bet that my daughters won't have live in boyfriends while they live under my roof.
If these were middle class or poor folks you can bet that the DA would be pressing all kinds of charges including statutory rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The cable channel is so worried about the situation, that they are now planning to air a big special about SEX for kids on their network.
They apparently don't want kids to emulate Jamie Spears.

If she had come forward earlier, then abortion could have been an option.

Ah, but young girls just seem to go nuts these days when their hormones hit them. My own daughter started dating at only 15, without any permission to do so. One night she did not come home. The police managed to find her in a hotel room, with a 20 year old man.
She settled down within a year. Thank goodness she never got pregnant, or got a STD. Today she is doing well in college, and has a steady boyfriend.

My wife and I were totally lucky with our two daughters. Neither was a problem. Both went on to college and graduated and exceeded our expectations. I wish I could say it was all parenting but I really think there is a lot of luck involved. As a parent if you haven't done your job its hard to play catch up when they are teens.
Lot of hugs, never talk down to them, don't preach, talk strait when asked. Watch their friends. If your daughters friends look like pot heads/tramps/dumb ass's guess what? Your kid is too.
It may have not have anything to do with it or maybe it did. But when our girls were in high school we all got into watching "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" together as well as some other shows. The shows have changed but its still a family tradition that the wife and girls share today.
I have seen and heard the horror stories. A friend's daughter didn't even know who the father of her child was. But the best was this one. My niece got pregnant at 19 to a 16 year old boy. Then when my brother was meeting with the mother of the boy, the mother made a pass at my brother! My brother was totally disgusted. The story has a good ending. The kids have been happily married for some years now. As for my nieces mother in law? My brother avoids her like the plague.

I can't help but think about this side of it and remember the case of a guy here in WI who at 18 got his 17 year old high school girlfriend pregnant. they were both still in school, no one wanted to file charges, and against the girls parents wishes the DA prosecuted and won statutory rape charges. the guy is now a convicted sex offender the rest of his life, and all the baggage that goes with that.
there was talk of people asking the governor "pardoning" him but Doyle wouldn't do it.
justice and equal treatment in this country is dead and gone, and has been for quite some time.
